Luciano Vito Corbo, age 74, of 405 Beechnut Avenue, South Mills, NC, died Wednesday, April 30, 2003 in Albemarle Hospital. He was born in New Rochelle, NY to the late Dominic and Anna Maniscalco Corbo and was the husband of Gloria Francia Corbo of the home. He retired from General Motors, was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and was a veteran of the U. S. Marines.

Besides his wife, Mr. Corbo is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Corbo of Nags Head, NC; three sons, Kenneth Corbo and wife Donna of Currituck, NC, Larry Corbo of Tobyhanna, PA, and Christopher Corbo and wife Christina of Currituck, NC; and six grandchildren, Kristy, Antony, Brianna, Allyson, Christopher, and Jeremy Corbo.

A Memorial Mass will be conducted on Friday, May 2, 2003 at 3:00 PM at Holy Family Catholic Church by Father Jim Buchholz. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. Annie Deeds Hassell

Annie Deeds Hassell, age 75, of Grandy, NC, died April 29, 2003 at her residence. She was born in Lumberton, NC, daughter of the late Coolidge Deeds and Annie Marie Cummings Lowery, and was the wife of the late Floyd R. Hassell. She was a retired waitress and a member of Grandy Assembly of God Church.

Mrs. Hassell is survived by four daughters, Fay and Bill Hall of Wilmington, NC, Shirley and Jonathan Crank of Harbinger, NC, Helen and Joe Dieck of Poplar Branch, NC, Eva and Mike Bilderback of Macon, GA; two sons Jimmy Hassell of Grandy, NC and Jerry Jacobs of Fairmont, NC; two sisters, Lois Ann Haggins and Linda Jones both of Lumberton, NC one brother Linwood Cummings of Fayetteville, NC; nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Memorial service will be Saturday May 3, 2003 at 2:00 PM in Twiford’s Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Roland Cooper officiating. William “Billie” Forehand

William ‘Billie’ Forehand, age 90 of Shiloh, NC died Tuesday, April 29, 2003 at Maryview Hospital. He was born in Camden County, NC; son of the late William Gregory and Elizabeth Whitehurst Forehand and was the widower of Geneva Hughes Forehand. He was a retired independent insurance agent; a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and Hall Lodge # 53, a charter member of the South Camden Ruritan Club and the Camden Historical Society, Camden County Historian, a former chairman of the Camden Board of Elections, former member of the Camden County School Board, and served on the State Insurance Board.

Mr. Forehand is survived by a daughter, Billie Faye Beavers and her husband, Glen, of Shiloh, NC; a son, Brian Forehand, and his wife, Ann, of Shiloh, NC; two sisters, Elizabeth Hall of Newark, DE and Ellen Garner of Norfolk, VA; a brother, Winfred Forehand of Norfolk, VA; two grandchildren, Jackie Beavers of Spindale, NC and Thad Forehand of Statesville, NC; and two great grandchildren, Faith Beavers and Geneva Blair Forehand.

A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, May 2, 2003 at 11:00 AM at Shiloh Baptist Church with Rev. Dave Combs officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Howard C. Jones

Howard C. Jones, 74, of 507 Narrow Shores Road, Aydlett, NC, died peacefully at his residence Monday, April 28, 2003, after several courageous battles with heart disease and cancer. He was born in Perquimans County, NC, raised in Elizabeth City and resided in Aydlett, NC. Mr. Jones was the son of the late Henry and Maggie Riddick Jones and was the husband of Rosalie Doxey Jones. He was a retired pipe fitter for the Norfolk Ship Building and Dry Docks, a member of the Sharon United Methodist Church and a former member of the National Guard. Howard loved his family, friends and church and was especially proud of being a grandfather. He loved the outdoors and was a true sportsman, enjoying golf, fishing and gardening. Howard was a generous man who found much pleasure in sharing the vegetables he raised in his garden with all of those in his community.

Besides his wife, Mr. Jones is survived by a daughter, Debbie Stallings and husband, Ken, of Shiloh, NC; two sons, Keith Jones and wife, Donna, of Burlington, NC and Bill Jones and wife, Tamara, of Southern Shores, NC; two sisters, Bessie Wall of Elizabeth City, NC and Mabel Long of Comer, GA; one brother, William Jones of Elizabeth City, NC and three grandchildren, Pam Ross, Andrea Ross both of Apex, NC and Will Jones of Burlington, NC.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 30, 2003, at 11:00am in the Sharon United Methodist Church by Revs. Sherman Guthrie and Gene Goldfinch. Burial will follow in the Doxey Family Cemetery, Aydlett, NC. The family suggests memorial gifts be made to the Sharon United Methodist Church, P. O. Box #182, Poplar Branch, NC 27965. Mary Pogue Trousdale, 83, of 1104 East Williams Circle, Elizabeth City, NC died Thursday, April 24, 2003 at Shair Rest Home in Lenoir, NC. She was born in Maury County, TN to the late Anderson Young and Janie Payton Pogue and was the widow of Raymond Estes Trousdale. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Elizabeth City, NC.

Mrs. Trousdale is survived by a son, Raymond Wayne Trousdale and wife Anne of Lenoir, NC. She was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, April 28, 2003 at 2:00 PM at Twiford’s Memorial Chapel by the Rev. Clyde Denny. Private burial will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. George Edward Crain, Jr., age 55, of Greenville, NC, died Thursday, April 24, 2003. He was born in Pasquotank County son of the late George Edward Crain, Jr. and Myrtle Anderson Crain. He was an electrical engineer and a graduate of NC State University. He served in the US Coast Guard and was a member of First Christian Church.

Besides his mother he is survived by one daughter, Amanda C. Thompson, and one son, Thomas Crain both of Raleigh, NC; two brothers, Jerry and Gayland Crain both of Elizabeth City, NC.

Lena Smith Blanchard, 89, of Barco, NC, went to be the Lord on April 23, 2003. She was born in Chowan County, NC to the late Octavius and Ida Briggs Smith and was the widow of Andrew Blanchard. She made her life as a homemaker and was a member of the Coinjock Baptist Church.

Mrs. Blanchard is survived by one daughter, Eunice M. Morrow and husband William of Lincolnton, NC; two sons, Sidney T. ‘Bill’ Blanchard and wife Doris of Chesapeake, VA and Richard A. ‘Dickie’ Blanchard of Virginia Beach, VA; two sisters, Carrie Baker of Virginia Beach, VA and Marjorie Ashley and husband Robert of Tyner, NC; eleven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was predeceased by two sisters, Leora Williams and Annie Brown and two brothers, Sam and Eddie Smith.

Herbert Lloyd Bundy, age 80, of 190 Colson Lane, Hertford, NC, died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, in the Albemarle Hospital. He was born in Pasquotank County, NC, son of the late Charlie and Ludie Haskett Bundy. He was the husband of Ann Poyner Bundy of Ruther Glen, VA. Mr. Bundy worked as a Meat Cutter and was a Baptist.

He is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Ann ‘Becky’ Maiatico of Ruther Glen, VA; one son, Walter P. ‘Buddy’ Bundy of Blacksburg, VA; three sisters, Ludie Colson and Essie Wilson both of Hertford, NC, and Mary Bundy of Elizabeth City, NC; one brother, Johnny Bundy of Tacoma, WA; two grandchildren, Steven and Michael Maiatico. She was predeceased by one sister, Alice Wilson, and four brothers, Jesse, Dave, Henry, and Earl Bundy.
