Floyd Robert Jump, 80, died Wednesday, February 25, 2004 at an Outer Banks Medical Facility in Nags Head. Mr. Jump was born in Johnson County, Tennessee and was a retired Welder for the Department of Transportation Ferry Division and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a Veteran having served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Mr. Jump was the son of the late Carl and Gertrude Jump and was the widower of Esther O’Neal Jump.
Survivors include two daughters, Frances Brinn and Cheryl Simmons both of Manteo; four sons, Robert ‘Bobby’ Jump of Manns Harbor, David Jump, Cecil Jump and Ralph, ‘R.C.’ Jump all of Manteo; two sisters, Flora Hinson and Naomi Carver, both of North Carolina; fourteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; he was preceded in death by one sister, Clara Weaver.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Twiford’s Colony Chapel, Manteo, on Saturday, February 28, 2004 at 1:00 PM with Dr. Jeff Jacobson, President of the Nags Head Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Burial will take place in the Roanoke Island Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Friday, February 27 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM.

Elizabeth City ‘ Goldie Marie Blondheim, 77, died at home after a long illness. Goldie was a caring, loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter Linda Fly of Elizabeth City, NC; sons Francis David Blondheim of South Mills, NC, Larry Wayne Blondheim of Jacksonville, FL; sisters Bessie Byers of Seebring FL, Rosie Durr of Spring Hill FL, Cressie Roy of Stark FL, Mildred Drake of Wellsburg NY; brothers Edward Byers of Horsehead NY, Albert Byers of Stark FL, and Arthur Byers; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and 2 special friends John and Betty Goodwin from Akron, OH.
The family will receive friends at the Twiford’s Colonial Chapel 929 S. Battlefield Blvd. On Friday, February 27th from 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be held Saturday at the Twiford’s Chapel at 11 AM with committal to follow at Olive Branch Cemetery. Family and friends will meet at Dave’s residence in NC after the services. James A. Culbreth
Chesapeake ‘ James Aaron Culbreth, 22, departed this world to be with his Lord and Savior, on Feb. 21, 2004. He was an honor graduate of Hickory High School class of 2000, a member of Good Hope UMC, and loved the outdoors.
James leaves behind, his parents, Melody and King Culbreth; a sister Ashley Culbreth; grandparents, Olive Culbreth, William and Judy Hall, and Charles and Mary Fryer; and a host of loving and devoted family and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Twiford’s Colonial Chapel, Chesapeake with Pastor Mark Christian officiating. Burial will follow at the Good Hope UMC Cemetery. Robert and Isabell have 15 grandchildren and

Robert was born in Mayville, NY June 19,
1915 and lived most of his life in Celoron,
NY. Robert is a graduate of the Celoron
High School. Robert and Isabell moved to
northeastern North Carolina in the early
1980′s after his retirement.

Barbara L. Maillet, age 67, of 1172 Four Forks Road, Elizabeth City, NC, died Sunday, February 22, 2004 at her residence. Mrs. Maillet, a native of Pasquotank County, NC, was the widow of Ronald Larry Maillet and the daughter of the late Lonnie M. Spruill and Edna Spruill Spruill. She was a member of Faith Assembly of God in Hertford, NC.
Mrs. Maillet is survived by two daughters, Pam O’Dell of Mesa, AZ, and Rhonda Lynn of Elizabeth City, NC; four sons, James Wise, III of Gainesville, FL, John Wise, Lonnie Wise, and Jason Maillet, all of Elizabeth City, NC; a sister, Ruby Jenkins of Riceville, TN; three brothers, Lloyd Spruill and David Spruill both of Elizabeth City, NC, and Joe Spruill of Greensboro, NC; fifteen grand-children and four great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be Wednesday, February 25, 2004, at 11:00 AM in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Roland Cooper officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. David Spruill, 1168 Four Forks Road, Elizabeth City, NC.

Mrs. Edith Lupton Lewis, age 62, of 795 Poplar Branch Road, Grandy, NC died Monday, February 23, 2004, at her residence. Mrs. Lewis was born in Currituck County, NC, the daughter of the late James Metrue and Edith Mintz Lupton and was the widow of Warren J. Lewis. She was a retired school teacher with the Camden Middle School and a member of the Poplar Branch Baptist Church.
Mrs. Lewis is survived by one daughter, Denise Lewis Fallon of Grandy, NC; two sons, Warren Metrue Lewis of Grandy, NC and Robert Michael Lewis of Poplar Branch, NC; one brother, James Lupton of Little River, SC; and nine grandchildren.

Effie Mae Hooker, age 86, of 104 Bell Street, Elizabeth City, NC, died Sunday, February 22, 2004 at Albemarle Hospital. She was born in Pasquotank County, NC, daughter of the late Mordecai Morris and Ollie Jackson White and was the widow of Julius A. Hooker, Sr.. She was a member of T.O.P.S.
Mrs. Hooker is survived by two sons, Julius A. Hooker, Jr. and Melvin C. Hooker, Sr. and wife Helen; three grandsons, Melvin C. Hooker, Jr. and wife Cathy, Monte B. Hooker and wife Ann, and Michael Hooker and wife Vanessa; two granddaughters, Donna Grigsby and Julie Hooker; four great grandchildren, Thomas Hooker, Justin Hooker, Shane Grigsby, and Byran Swain; a brother, Charles T. White and wife Doris; a sister, Erma L. Bush, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, George White, Bailey White, Alphonso White, and Cornelius White, and two sisters, Mattie Dickerson and Annie Wright.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, February 25, 2004 at 11:00 am in Memory Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Poole officiating. MARSHALL WILLIAM SANDERLIN, III, 39, of Wanchese, NC died Saturday, February 21, 2004 at his residence. Mr. Sanderlin, born in Elizabeth City, NC, was a Fish Packer and attended Wanchese Assembly of God. He was the son of Marshall William Sr. and Priscilla ‘Jane’ Bennett Sanderlin of Manteo.
Besides his parents, Mr. Sanderlin is survived by a daughter, Brittany Reed of California; three sisters, Patty McCarter of Manteo, NC, Charlotte Sanderlin of Raleigh, NC and Barbara Gotsch of Severna Park, MD; and a brother, David William Sanderlin of Manteo, NC.
Funeral services will be held at Twiford’s Colony Chapel, Manteo on Friday, February 27, 2004 at 2:00 pm with Rev. David Dalton officiating. Burial will be in a local cemetery. George Conway

GEORGE WILLIAM CONWAY, 79, of Colington Harbour, NC died Sunday, February 22, 2004 in an Elizabeth City hospital. Mr. Conway, born in Brooklyn, NY, was a retired Manager with NYNEX Phone Company. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and was a WWII veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was the son of the late George and Elizabeth Vincent Conway.
Mr. Conway is survived by his wife, Rose Todaro Conway of the residence; a son, George Conway and wife, Barbara of Kill Devil Hills, NC; and two grandsons, Christopher and Matthew Conway.
Funeral services will be held at Twiford’s Colony Chapel, Manteo on Thursday, February 26, 2004 at 4:00 pm with Father Joseph Klaus officiating. Entombment will be in the Roanoke Island Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. John Piotrowski

John Anthony Piotrowski, age 77, of 104 Dana Street, Moyock, NC, died Thursday, February 19, 2004 in Bayside Hospital, Va. Beach, VA. He was born in Michigan City, IN, and was the son the late Ignatius Piotrowski and Martha Banul Piotrowski. He the husband of Ann Pilarski Piotrowski of the residence. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus where he was a fourth degree Knight. In 1990 he was Knight of the year for the NC council. He was a retired Master Sergeant from the US Army after serving for 26 years. He served during WWII, Korean War, and Viet Nam. He was a recipient of the purple heart.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Ann Marie McPherson of Camden, NC, Suzanne Halstead of Va. Beach, VA, Dianne Russell of Knightdale, NC; one son, Pete Piotrowski of Naperville, NC; four sisters, Caroline Bowers, Cecelia Hyska, and Angeline Gregory, all of Michigan City, IN, and Jean Bemis of Terre Haute, IN; one brother, Casimir Piotrowski of Michigan City, IN; twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was predeceased by one daughter, Patricia Woods.
A funeral service will be conducted Monday, February 23, 2004 at 11:00 AM in the Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Jim Buchholz officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors. A Rosary service will be Sunday evening, 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Holy Family Catholic Church.
