Evelyn Davenport Sanderson, 91, of Chamble, Georgia and formerly of Moyock, NC died Wednesday, March 29, 2006 in Georgia. She was born in Franklin, Virginia to the late Earl Alexander and Mattie Lee Sanders Davenport and was the widow of the late Nathaniel Hathaway Sanderson. She was a retired registered nurse and a member of the Moyock Baptist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Ann Evans of Toccoa, Ga. a son, N. H. (Sandy) Sanderson, Jr. of Kill Devil Hills, one brother Earl DeLon Davenport of Texas; four grandchildren, three great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Memorial graveside services will be conducted Saturday, April 1, 2006 at 1:00pm in the Moyock Memorial Cemetery, Moyock, NC by Rev. Vic Ramsey. Memorial gifts may be made to the Moyock Baptist Church, P. O. Box 459, Moyock, NC 27958.

Mary Armstrong

Mary Josephine Armstrong, 72, died Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at Sentara Nursing Center ‘ Currituck. Born in Lincoln, NE, she was the daughter of the late Arthur B. and Marceline Rogers Carmony and was the widow of Crawford L. Armstrong. She was a retired manager of 7-11 convenience stores.

Mrs. Armstrong is survived by a daughter, Sherry Hudson of Kill Devil Hills, NC; a son, Robert L. Fitchett, Jr. of Charlottesville, VA; two brothers, William Carmony of Texas and Jon Carmony of Washington; and four grandsons, Tyler Hudson of Kill Devil Hills, NC, Clayton Fitchett of Dallas, TX, Nicholas Fitchett of San Antonio, TX, and Shawn Fitchett of Baltimore, MD.

A private memorial service will be conducted at a later date by the Rev. Robert Pitsch. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Tyler Hudson Education Fund c/o Wachovia Bank, P. O. Box 1676, Kill Devil Hills, NC 27948.

Evelyn S. “Evie” Musser

Evelyn Spicer Musser, 94, of 105 Dockside Road, Elizabeth City, NC, died Saturday, March 18, 2006 at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Mark and Frances Gass. She was born in Harrisburg, PA, the daughter of the late John S. Spicer and Rose Huber Spicer and was the widow of John R. Musser. Mrs. Musser is survived by two daughters, Barbara M. Taliaferro and husband Robert of Brandon, FL, and Frances M. Gass and husband Mark of Elizabeth City, NC; two sons, Dr. John R Musser, Jr. and wife Helen of Amesbury, MA, and William A. Musser of Mifflinburg, PA; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Mrs. Musser was a life-time active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Sunbury, PA.

Chesapeake ‘ Rebecca Chadwick Richardson, 53, went home to be with Jesus, her best friend on Tuesday, March 28, 2006. She was born in Norfolk to the late, Robert George and Dorothy Dunn Chadwick. Mrs. Richardson was the owner/operator of Signature Garden Center and an active member of Chesapeake Vineyard Christian Fellowship. She loved her Lord and boldly proclaimed it. Mrs. Richardson was an encourager and an exhorter to all she met.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 23 years, Oscar White Richardson; daughter, Alicia Joy Richardson; son, Seth Michael Richardson; grandson Ty Brayden Richardson; all of Chesapeake, sister, Dorothy Chadwick White and husband Earle Vincent, Jr. of Shawboro, NC and other family.
Services to commemorate Mrs. Richardson life will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am at Chesapeake Vineyard Christian Fellowship officiated by Elston Brown, Joel Andre, and Ray Bjorkman. Burial will follow at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 6:00 until 9:00 pm. Norfolk ‘ Linda Leslie Swale, 59, died Tuesday, March 28, 2006. Mrs. Swale was born in Norfolk to the late George and Birdie Alice Binns Swale. She had worked for many years at Fisherman’s Warf Restaurant and was a member of Cradock Baptist Church.
Mrs. Swale is survived by a son, Andy Laderberg of Atlanta, GA; a daughter, Heidi Laderberg of VA Beach; a brother, George Swale and wife Marcia of Portsmouth and an uncle, Charles

Harry G. McPherson, Sr.

Harry Grandy McPherson, Sr., 84, of Camden County passed away quietly on March 26, 2006, after a short illness. He was born on July 24, 1921, a son of the late Sarah Harris and Roland W. McPherson. Mr. Pherson attended NC State for three years after which he served with distinction during WW II. He was a farmer who loved the land, retiring at 80 only when his health forced him to do so.
For over thirty years he was a dedicated State of NC Wildlife Protector, serving mainly in the Camden County area where he was easily recognized by the ever present cigar he loved to smoke. Mr. McPherson was an avid bowler, winning many trophies with his league members and friends. He enjoyed playing Gin Rummy with his friends at the former Spotsman Marina on the Camden Causeway. He was also a hunter and a fisherman.
He is survived by his devoted wife of sixty five years, Doris T. McPherson; a son, Harry McPherson, Jr., and his wife Judy of Poquoson, VA; two daughters, Vivian McPherson of Hampton, VA and Janet M. Clark and her husband Darrell of Phoenix, AZ; three grandchildren, Chris McPherson and his wife Susann, Lisa Riddle and her husband John, and Michael Clark and his wife Melinda; two great grandchildren, Sean Riddle and Mikayla Riddle; a brother Wilton ‘Bunch’ McPherson of Camden, NC; and a sister Louise Ervin of Edenton, NC.
A memorial service will be Wednesday March 29, 2006, at 2:00 PM at Twiford’s Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Moehring officiating. It was Mr. McPherson’s desire to be cremated and his cremated remains spread over the land he loved. The family will receive friends in the lobby of the funeral home immediately after the service and at other times at the residence. Clarence “Kit” Price

Clarence Miller ‘Kit’ Price died Friday, March 24, 2006. He was born September 10, 1925 to John Wesley Price, Sr. and Louise Miller Price.

He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Arlene Price; a son, Stephen E. Price and wife Laura; a daughter, Catherine P. Caputo; a brother, John W. Price, Jr.; four grandsons, Michael, Chris, Nick and Ryan.

After growing up in his beloved ‘Little Washington’, VA, Kit served his country with great pride as a member of the 69th Infantry during World War II. After his service with the U.S. Army, he attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute (Va. Tech), graduating in 1950.

Kit’s many years in the business world included working for R.C.A. Information Systems as a sales support liaison and real estate sales on the Outer Banks. After retirement he gave his time and devotion to the Currituck Beach Lighthouse where he proudly did grounds keeping activities.

A memorial service to celebrate Kit’s life will be held at All Saints’ Episcopal Church on Friday, March 31 at 2:00 PM. There will be a reception at the church immediately following the service. James Stanley

James Allen Stanley, Jr., 77, died on Sunday, March 26, 2006 at his daughter’s residence in Nags Head. He was the son of the late Lillie Folsom and James Allen Stanley.

He was a US Air Force veteran. He graduated from Clemson University in 1949 with a Mechanical Engineering degree. He retired as Energy Conservation Officer Staff Administrator at Clemson University. He was a member of Sun Rise Church of Christ in Kill Devil Hills, NC. He was former President and Chairman of the Board for the Clemson Sertoma Club.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Lee Boswell of Nags Head, NC; his son, James Allen Stanley, III of Iron Station, NC; his daughter and son-in-law, Janice and John Ehrenreich of Gastonia, NC; his daughter, Ann Duffy of Richmond, VA; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Oconee Memorial Park in Seneca, SC on Thursday, March 30, 2006 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Richard A. Bruesch

Richard August Bruesch, 61, of Billets Bridge Road, Camden, NC, died Friday March 24, 2006. Mr. Bruesch was born March 17, 1945, in Dodge County, Beaver Dam, WI, and was the son of the late August John Bruesch and Evelyn Doris Grosenick Bruesch. He was a former employee in the shipping department with Guy C. Lee Company in Kitty Hawk, NC.

He is survived by his friends, Gene and June Etheridge of Camden, NC.
