George Ivet Smith
George Ivett Smith, age 81, of 1719 Aydlett Circle, Elizabeth City, NC, died Thrusday, November 29, 2007 at the Albemarle Hospital. Mr. Smith, a native of Akron, OH, was the son of the late William Ivett Smith and Rosa Ellen Thompson Smith and was pre-deceased by his lifetime companion, Barbara Thomas. He was a retired general manager for the steel industry, a US Navy Veteran of WWII having served on the USS Frost DE144, a member of the William Clarence Jackson VFW Post #6060, Seth E. Perry American Legion Hut #83, the Disabled American Veterans, the U.S.C.G. Auxiliary, and Riverside United Methodist Church.
Mr. Smith is survived by two daughters Del Marie Carbaugh and husband John of Uniontown, OH; and Beth Winkelman and husband Harold of Elizabeth City, NC; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, at 1:00 PM, December 6, 2007 at Riverside UMC with the Rev. Toni Woods officiating. Burial with military rites rendered by the VFW Post 6060 will follow in New Hollywood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 5 from 7:00 to 8:30 at the funeral home. Robert Holden Wrenn
Memorial services for Robert Holden Wrenn, 84, will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, December 3, 2007, at Duck United Methodist Church, Duck, NC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
Mr.. Wrenn, born June 15, 1923, passed away Friday, November 30, 2007. Mr. Wrenn was the son of Raymond N. and Winnie H. Wrenn, husband of the late Mary Craig Wrenn, and the beloved father of Pamela Wrenn King and her husband Rick of Windermere, Florida; Nancy Wrenn Porter and her husband Bill of Columbia, South Carolina; and Roberta Wrenn Schnepp and her husband Bill of Orlando, Florida. He is also survived by two brothers and their families, Raymond F. Wrenn and his wife Rena, of Winchester, Virginia; and Thomas Randall Wrenn and his wife Almeda of Columbia, Maryland; as well as eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Mr. Wrenn attended Randolph-Macon College and served in World War II in the European Theater. Mr. Wrenn retired in 1981 from Phillips Machinery and Tractor Company, in Arlington, Virginia, after 35 years of continuous employment, where he was President and Chairman of the Board. Mr. Wrenn was a member of the Duck United Methodist Church, and previously a member of the Annandale Methodist Church, in Annandale, Virginia. Mr. Wrenn served as Vice President of the Virginia Road Builder’s Association, was a director of The Equipment Distributor’s Association, and was a long time director of The Heavy Construction Contractors Association of Virginia. For the past 25 years Mr. Wrenn has served unofficially as the ‘Mayor of Second Avenue’. Jennie Gibbs Tillett Creef

Jennie Gibbs Tillett Creef, 96, of Manns Harbor, NC died Thursday, November 29, 2007 at the Outer Banks Hospital, Nags Head, NC. Mrs. Creef was born in Manns Harbor and was a homemaker. She was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for 30 years and was a member of the Methodist Women. She was the daughter of the late Herman Thomas and Bertha Inez Tillett Gibbs. She is also preceded in death by her first husband, William Rollins Tillett, her second husband, Harry Gordon Creef and a son, Rollins D. Tillett, Sr.
Mrs. Creef is survived by two grandchildren, Rollins Davis Tillett, Jr. and Linda ‘Sammie’ Tillett Gard; four great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Gard, Billy Gard, Chevis Tillett and Emery Tillett; and two great-great-grandchildren, Blake Gard and Brinley Tillett.
Funeral Services will be held at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church on Sunday, December 2, 2007 at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Bettie Francis officiating. Burial will be in the Twiford Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Twiford Funeral Home, Manteo on Saturday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mt. Marvin E. Webb
Kill Devil Hills, NC
Marvin Earl Webb, 87, died at his home in Kill Devil Hills on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at 12:10 a.m. Mr. Webb was born in Edgecombe County, Macclesfield, NC to the late James Fred Webb and Mattie Walston Webb. Mr. Webb is preceded in death by his first wife, Sybil Smith Webb, and their adopted four-year old son, Dan Bracey Webb and sister, Evelyn Webb Crisp.
Following a 36 year career in law enforcement, Mr. Webb retired in 1981 as Chief Alcohol Beverage Control Officer in Edgecombe County, Tarboro, NC. He also received a license to fly small aircraft. Upon retirement, Mr. Webb moved to the Outer Banks of North Carolina for relaxation and fishing enjoyment.
During WWII Mr. Webb, voluntarily, served 3 ‘ years in the U.S. Coast Guard. Following Coast Guard service, he received an award to wear a special ribbon for his good conduct. Mr. Webb was a life-long Presbyterian, attending Sunday School and Church at Macclesfield Presbyterian Church, Macclesfield, NC. Later, he joined the Howard Memorial Presbyterian Church in Tarboro and, in 1988, became a member of the Outer Banks Presbyterian Church, Kill Devil Hills, NC.
He was a caring, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and step-father. His motto was ‘Do what you can for your fellow man and expect nothing in return.’ He was admired and respected by all those who knew him.
Marvin enjoyed the outdoors, wildlife, and was amazed at the wonder of nature. He also enjoyed tinkering in his shop. Another great pride was keeping his lawn immaculate in Kill Devil Hills. It was surrounded by 200 azaleas! He also loved to cook. Brunswick stew and chicken salad were his favorite recipes! Another joy was boiling raw peanuts and sharing them with his grandchildren.
Mr. Webb is survived by his wife, Ramona Mozingo Webb of the residence; two daughters, Donna Webb Conroy and husband, Terry of Canton, MA, Joy Webb Norris and husband, Bill of Tiburon, CA; step-son, Terry Roberson and wife, Brenda of Farmville, NC; a brother, Fred Webb and wife, Nell of Greenville, NC; a sister, Edna Webb Colson and husband, B.M. of Mt. Olive, NC; three granddaughters, one grandson, three step-granddaughters, five great-step grandchildren, a step-sister-in-law, Judith M. Stancill and husband, Ruel of Greenville, NC; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
In keeping with his wishes, Mr. Webb’s remains have been donated to the East Carolina University School of Medicine, Greenville, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Outer Banks Presbyterian Church Building Fund, POB 2199, Kill Devil Hills, NC 27948, or Macclesfield Presbyterian Church, Macclesfield, NC.

Frank Dean Reuter, Sr.
Frank Dean Reuter, Sr., 70, of 4015 Grant Avenue, Hamburg, New York died Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at the Albemarle Hospital in Elizabeth City, NC. Mr. Reuter was born in Erie County, Hamburg, New York and was the son of the late Frank George Reuter and Gladys Isabelle Weaver Reuter.
Mr. Reuter was a retired caseworker for the Erie County Social Services in Buffalo, New York, member of St. James United Church of Christ and a member of the Scranton Volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Barbara Lee Kreamer Reuter; his daughter Deanne Lee Reuter of Los Angeles, CA, his son Frank D. Reuter, Jr. and his wife Barbara of Moyock, NC; three brothers; Floyd Haxton of Roanoke, VA, Tom Reuter of Hamburg, NY and John Reuter of Buffalo, NY, three grandchildren Brandie, Frank, III and Hunter, one great-grandchild Kylee Gault. He was preceded in death by his sister Geraldine Reuter.
A memorial service will be held Monday, December 3, 2007 at 6:30 P. M. at St. James United Church of Christ in Hamburg, NY with the Rev. Robert Matlack and Pastor Alva Looze officiating.
The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the church.

Lovey Marie Daniels Tillett, 100, of Wanchese, NC went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 in a Nags Head nursing home. Mrs. Tillett, born in Wanchese, was a homemaker and also worked in the cafeteria for Dare County Schools. She was the daughter of the late Baron DeKalb and Minnie Lee Daniels and the widow of the late Charles Ketcham Cliffé“” Tillett. She is also preceded in death by a daughter, Tessie Rogers, three sisters, Mary Tillett, Debbie Daniels, and Wynola Sparocina; three brothers, Kalb Daniels, Amos Daniels and Spencer Daniels.
Mrs. Tillett is survived by a son, Rondal Tillett and wife, Nell; a son-in-law, Orville Rogers; grandchildren, Jackie Beasley, Santa Daniels, Rhonda Tillett, Ginger Tillett, Laurie DeGabrielle, Robin Tillett, Patricia Rogers, and Marcy Mann; great-grandchildren, Hank Beasley, Sascha Watkins, Jason Chrismon, Hunt Daniels, Ketch DeGabrielle, Rachel DeGabrielle, Tess Twyne, and Dallas Twyne; great-great-grandchildren, Cole, Fisher and Keagan Beasley, Caleb, Matthew and Lindsey Daniels, and Caitlin and Noah Leonard; two nephews who were raised by Marie, Carroll Daniels and Louie Hornsby Daniels.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Bethany United Methodist Church on Sunday, December 2, 2007 at 2:00 pm. Burial will be in Cudworth Cemetery. Carlton Spencer Midgette, 47, of Manns Harbor, NC died Tuesday, November 27, 2007 in Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie, NC. Mr. Midgette was born in Manteo, NC and was a Building Contractor. He was the son of Renee Cuthrell Midgette of Manns Harbor, NC and the late Robert Lee Midgette, Sr.
Besides his mother, Mr. Midgette is survived by his fianc, Chong He Yi of Manns Harbor, NC; two sons, David Lee Midgette and Daniel Spencer Midgette and wife, Laura, all of Spartanburg, SC; three brothers, Robert Lee Midgette, Jr. and wife, Debbie of Hampton, VA, Jimmy Midgette and Mike Midgette, both of Manns Harbor, NC; two granddaughters, Sarah Marie Midgette and Olivia Nicole Midgette.

Melva C. Dowdy

Melva Creef Dowdy, 88, of Manteo, NC was swept into everlasting life on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at her residence. Melva was born in Buffalo City, NC and was best known as co-founder, along with her late husband, Joe Dowdy, of Dowdy’s Amusement Park in Nags Head. She was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church and actually attended The Ark International Church in Nags Head and First Assembly of God in Manteo until her health failed. She was the daughter of the late Cloice and Maggie Rogers Creef.
Melva leaves behind a son, Gary J. Dowdy of Nags Head, NC; a daughter, Sandra Dowdy Jump of Manteo, NC; two sisters, Mae Wiggins of Gates County, NC and Rosealie Groce of Belhaven, NC; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Friends may join the family at Twiford Funeral Home, Manteo on Friday, November 30, 2007 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm.

Orville Celestial Scarborough, 78, of Avon, NC died Monday, November 26, 2007 in a Norfolk, Va. hospital. Mr. Scarborough was born in Avon and was a retired First Class Boatswains Mate with the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church, a 33rd Degree Mason with the Hatteras Island Masonic Lodge and a member of the Scottish Rite and York Rite.
He was the son of the late Celestial and Sudie Gray Scarborough.
Mr. Scarborough is survived by his wife, Edith Gray Scarborough of the residence; a daughter, Darlene Scarborough of Avon, NC; three sons, Richard Scarborough of Newport, NC, Billy Scarborough and Orville Scarborough, both of Avon, NC; a sister, Lillian Nordorcie of Goldsboro, NC; a brother, Maxton Scarborough of Avon, NC; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at St. Johns United Methodist Church on Friday, November 30, 2007 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Dr. Susie Fitch-Slater officiating. Mary E. Styron Anderson

Mary Elizabeth Styron Anderson, 86, of Ocracoke, NC died Monday, November 26, 2007 in a Nags Head nursing home. Mrs. Anderson, born in Ocracoke, was a store keeper at the Albert Styron Store and was a member of the Ocracoke United Methodist Church. She was a former resident of the Manson area of Indiana.
Mrs. Anderson was the daughter of the late Albert Monroe Styron and the late Mamie Spencer Styron. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters, Edna O’Neal and Daisy Gaskill, three brothers, Elvin ‘Bud’ Styron, Norman H. Styron and Albert M. Styron, Jr.
Mrs. Anderson is survived by her husband, Albert L. Anderson of the residence; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Ocracoke United Methodist Church on Friday, November 30, 2007 at 11:00 am, with Rev. Joyce Reynolds and Rev. Sam Garris officiating. Burial will be in the Ocracoke Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
