Brian Mouring
Brian Wayne Mouring, 20, of Gloucester, VA, went to be with the Lord Wednesday morning, Aug 18, 2010. He died in shallow water at Oregon Inlet at Nags Head while on a camping trip with his friends. This was not a “freak accident,” a “rogue wave,” or a “rip tide.” Brian was young and strong and the surf was moderate. This was a direct act of a loving God in whom we fully trust. Our pain is deeper than the ocean itself, and we miss him more than can be put into words. But we know Brian is with the Lord, where we will one day hold him again. Brian attended Denbigh Baptist Christian School in his early years, finishing his high school days at Summit Christian Academy.
He was an intern student this summer at NASA Langley Research Center where he was able to work alongside his father, a precious time now made even sweeter. He was about to begin his second year at Thomas Nelson Community College as a Civil Engineering student. He attended Petsworth Baptist Church in Gloucester and frequently visited Liberty Baptist Church in Hampton. Brian sealed his eternity in heaven when he trusted in Christ for his salvation on May 23 of this year. He loved soccer, drawing, spending time with his close friends, and his wit was so sharp. He was a great example to many. Never will he be replaced or forgotten. God holds him now. We will see him again.
Brian is survived by his parents, Chris and Kimberly Mouring, his two brothers, Matthew and Philip Mouring, his sister, Rachel Mouring White and her husband Eric, all of Gloucester, Virginia.
He is also survived by his girlfriend, Lindsay Lutterloh, his paternal grandparents, John and Betsy Mouring of Newport News, his maternal grandparents, Wayne and Mary Johnson of Raleigh, NC, his great-grandmother, Alene Byrd of Ocala, Florida, his nephew Josiah White, and his niece Samantha White.
A Memorial Service celebrating Brian’s Life will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Liberty Baptist Church in Hampton, VA. There will be a time of visitation and fellowship from 2:00 – 4:00 pm, immediately prior to the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to Summit Christian Academy, where a fund will be established in Brian’s honor to tangibly continue his impact there. Their website is www.summitchristianacademy.org.
