William Boyer
William R. “Cat Bird” Boyer, 61, of 1006 Woodruff Ave., Elizabeth City, NC died Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on February 14, 1949 in Greenville, South Carolina to the late Hugh B. and Evelyn Johnston Boyer. Mr. Boyer was a partner in Southeastern Professional Coatings, a member of the Towne South Church of Christ, member of Improved Order of Red Men, Tribe #8, and was retired from the USCG Reserves.
He is survived by his wife, Jill Talkington Boyer of the home, one daughter, Keeley B. Styron and husband, David of Chesapeake, VA; two sons, Brooks Boyer and wife, Kim of Fresno, CA and Beau Boyer of Elizabeth City. He is also survived by a brother, Jack Boyer and wife, Ruth of Concord, NC and three grandchildren, Emmit Boyer, Audrey Boyer and Charlotte Ann Styron.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 27, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Towne South Church of Christ, 2224 Peartree Road, Elizabeth City by Minister Brad Giffin. Burial will be in the West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives at the church immediately following the funeral and at other times at their residence. William Bateman
William B. “Billy” Bateman, Jr., 55, dedicated son, husband, father and grandfather, of 567 Meadstown Road, Elizabeth City, NC returned home to his Savior Tuesday, December 21, 2010. Born in Pasquotank County, NC, he was the son of William Barkwell Bateman and Katrina Meads Bateman and was the husband of Linda White Bateman. Mr. Bateman was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Along with his family, he owned and operated Bateman Farms of Weeksville, NC.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Mr. Bateman is survived by four daughters, Amy B. Lowry and husband Barry, Rose A. Bateman, Daphne L. Bateman, and Amber L. Bateman; a son, William Z. Bateman and wife Shelly; two grandchildren, Morgan A. Lowry and Brayden C. Lowry; and a brother, Michael T. Bateman all of Elizabeth City, NC. Billy has touched the lives of many and will remain in our hearts until we meet again.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mickey L. Burnim Fine Arts Center at Elizabeth City State University with the Elders Adren Hughes, Austin Keaton and Ralph “Bud” Keaton speaking. A private family graveside service will be held at the family cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the auditorium and on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at the residence. Cynthia Etheridge
Cynthia Austin Etheridge, 84, of Wanchese, died Sunday, December 19, 2010, in Barco. Mrs. Etheridge was born in Hatteras and was a homemaker and member of Harbor Lights Holiness Church.
She was the daughter of the late Robert and Pearlie Austin Austin and the wife of the late Ernest Chester Etheridge.
Surviving are one daughter, Sharon E. Austin of Wanchese; two sons, Jerry Etheridge of New Castle, VA and Ernest C. Etheridge, Jr. of Roanoke, VA.; six grand children and one great grandchild.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Twiford’s Colony Chapel by Rev. Anthony Ralph. Burial will be in Cudworth Cemetery. Friends may join the family at Twiford Funeral Home 500 Budleigh St. Manteo, Tuesday, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Robert Hare
Robert Lee Hare, 69, of 639 Body Road, Elizabeth City, NC died Sunday, December 19, 2010 at Albemarle Hospital. Born in Pasquotank County, NC, he was the son of the late Robert Elvin Hare and the late Myrtle Stafford Hare and was the husband of Rebecca Jewell Hare of the residence. Mr. Hare was a veteran, having served in the United States Army and was a member of the William Clarence Jackson VFW Post 6060. Along with his wife of forty-nine years, he is survived by his brother, James Elvin Hare and wife Anna of Elizabeth City, NC; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hare was preceded in death by his brother, William Leon Hare. Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. F. Priscilla Fox Minton
Priscilla Ann Fox Minton, 71, of 47 Magna Carta Drive, Newport News, VA died Friday, December 17, 2010 at Riverside Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Minton, a native of Anderson, IN, was the daughter of the late Jesse Fox and Mary Frances Fox and the widow of Robert Lee Minton. She was co-owner of two service stations in South Mills, NC and a member of South Mills Church of Christ and the Order of Eastern Star.
Mrs. Minton is survived by a daughter Mary McCoy and husband Steven; three sons, Danial Minton, Dennis Minton and wife Penny and Kenneth Minton and wife Janie; eleven grandchildren; and twenty-one great grand children. She was pre-deceased by a daughter, Denise Minton and a son, Donald Minton.

Sandra Pfeifer
Sandra Waldron Pfeifer, 74, passed away at her residence in Southern Shores, NC on Thursday, December 16, 2010. Born in Dunellen, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Louise Bond Waldron. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, William B. Pfeifer of the residence.
Mrs. Pfeifer loved her family very much and had a passion for her career as a Historic Interpreter. She had the opportunity to work in such areas as the Blount Mansion in Knoxville, TN, the Sleepy Hollow Restorations in New York, Colonial Williamsburg, and more recently at the Whalehead Club in Corolla, NC.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Pfeifer is survived by her three sons, Bradford Sage Pfeifer and wife Laurie of Hyannis Port, MA, Eric William Pfeifer and wife Christin of Kitty Hawk, Andrew Waldron Pfeifer and wife Kari of Midlothian, VA, her two sisters, Joan Marsh and husband Don, Rilla Campbell and husband Larry, and three grandchildren, William Pfeifer and wife Natalee, David Pfeifer, and Brodie Pfeifer. Also surviving is her great-grandchild, Mallory Pfeifer.
The family is planning a private memorial service to be held in Williamsburg, Virginia at a later date. Donations, in her memory, can be made to The Whalehead Club, PO Box 307, Corolla, NC 27927 or Dare County Home Health and Hospice, P.O. Box 1000, Manteo, NC 27954.

Patricia Siperavage Dobbie, 92 of Aydlett, NC died Friday, December 17, 2010 in the Maryview Hospital, Portsmouth, VA. She was born in New Britain, CN on May 20, 1918 to the late Theodore and Mary Zumas Siperavage.
Mrs. Dobbie is survived by a son, Jan Sawyer and wife, Carol of Aydlett; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

C.T. Hayes
C.T. Hayes, Jr., 55, of Wanchese died Thursday, December 16, 2010 in Hampton, VA. He was the son of Clarence Turner Hayes, Sr. of Wanchese and the late Iona Aldean Midgett Hayes and was a commercial fisherman. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a son, Zack Hayes.
C.T. is survived by his wife, Sheila Ireland Hayes; two sons, Turner and Roscoe Hayes both of Wanchese; three sisters, Irma Jean Williams of Gulfport, MS, Winona Twiford of Manteo, and Lisa Clark of Wanchese; and three grandchildren, Felicity, Harmony, and Melody Hayes.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Twiford Funeral Homes’ Colony Chapel, Manteo by the Rev. Dustin Daniels. Burial will be in Cudworth Cemetery. Viewing hours will be on Saturday from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.

Carolyn Brice Alexander, age 86, and Robert Joseph Alexander, 83, of 1904 Johnson Road, Elizabeth City, NC died Wednesday, December 15, 2010. Mrs. Alexander was born in Wilson, NC and the daughter of the late Claude and Mrs. Esther Barnes Brice. Mr. Alexander was born in Camden, NJ and son of the late Mr & Mrs. Alexander. Mrs. Alexander was a retired secretary with civil service and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Mr. Alexander was retired from the US Marine Corps with over twenty years of service as well as a civil service retiree. Mr. and Mrs. Alexander are survived by a daughter, Cynthia Wright of Elizabeth City, NC, and a son, Robert B. Alexander of Diamond Bar, California. Mrs. Alexander is survived by a sister, Rachel Robbins of Roanoke, VA; three brothers, William Brice and Gordon Brice both of Portsmouth, VA and John Brice of Greenville, NC. They both are survived by two grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at Greenlawn Cemetery in Portsmouth, VA on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with Frank Weeks officiating.
