Ashley E. Bulluck, Jr.

Ashley E. Bulluck, Jr., 86, of Kill Devil Hills, N.C. passed away on February 14, 2012 after an extended battle with Alzheimers Disease.

He was born to Ashley and Ruth Bulluck on May 6, 1925 in Rocky Mount, NC and married Nell Thomas Bulluck on June 14, 1946. Mr. Bulluck, a veteran of World War II, served 4 years in the US Coast Guard and was awarded the Purple Heart.

Prior to moving to Kill Devil Hills from Rocky Mount, Mr. Bulluck retired from ACL/Seaboard Coastline Railroad after 40 years of service and also was with the Department of Agriculture Grading Service for 15 years.  Later he was active in the real estate business in Kill Devil Hills.  He was instrumental in the organization of Oakdale Baptist Church and Englewood Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, NC and the Outer Banks Baptist Church of Kill Devil Hills where he received the honor of Deacon Emeritus.

Mr. Bulluck is survived by Nell, his loving wife of 66 years, and four children, Daniel and wife Nancy,  Ashley, III (Rusty) and wife Melanie, Teresa Bradshaw and husband Kevin, Mary Ruth Beaumont and husband Peter. He was blessed with 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by one sister, Betty Ruth Ellis of Wilson, N.C.  He is predeceased by his parents and one brother, W. R. Bulluck (wife Lula Mae) and a sister, Bela Bulluck Watts.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 11:00 am at Twiford Funeral Home, 500 Budleigh Street, Manteo, NC, followed by the burial service at Roanoke Island Memorial Gardens in Manteo. A reception and lunch will be held immediately after the burial in the fellowship hall of the Outer Banks Baptist Church in Kill Devil Hills. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice. 

Twiford Funeral Home, Manteo is assisting the family with arrangements.
