To all of you in Uncle Ashton’s family,

I want to let you know that you’re in my prayers and thoughts since Uncle Ashton passed away. I’m so glad I got to visit him when he was his old self. There is always a bright light shining whenever you are around him. He makes things seem good when there not because he is always cracking a joke and laughing. The last thing he said to me was, you better come over here and give me a hug good-by or I’m going to kick your _ _ _. I guess everybody that knows him can figure out what he said, because that’s just Uncle Ashton being Uncle Ashton. He made the world a better place and he will surely be missed.

    Love always,
    Dianne Pazzanese

I was so very sorry to hear of Uncle Ashton’s passing. I have a lot of fond memories from my days working at Woodbine when I was young; Uncle Ashton picking me up by my neck and lifting me to the ceiling with one hand (I told him he wasn’t strong enough–I was about 13 and had no idea!), those rib cracking bear hugs, him teaching me the proper way to chase Early Times, along with the time I had the bright idea to take the tow hooks off his Woodbine truck not realizing those same bolts held the bumper to the truck…. It was the most courageous thing I ever did telling a fuming Uncle Ashton that I was the one who unbolted his bumper that fell off in traffic during a delivery! He was great man, tough as nails, with a good heart. When Grandma Lister passed it was the one good moment for me seeing Uncle Ashton again as he stayed by her side all during the wake. I didn’t get to see him much in later years but I figured he would always be around, too tough not to be. The world has lost a good man and I’m going to miss him.

Ashton was a great man. I remember as a child I couldn’t wait until he came to see our family. The cookouts and togetherness was great. I found out about this all at the last minute and have no way to contact anyone… I would love to be there to pay my respect to the family as Ashton, skeeter and Carolyn have been there for our losses. I love you all and my hearts go out to you. I always admired him he will always have a place in my heart. If anyone who reads this can please give Carolyn, Glenda or Skeeter my number 336-883-2045

I would like to send my concern to the family. I think the words in Isaiah 25:8 give you hope and comfort.
