Barbara Batty
Barbara Jean Batty, 71, of 711 Foreman Bundy Road, Elizabeth City, NC died Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Albemarle Hospital. Born in Madison, WI, she was the daughter of the late Orville and Margaret Pepper and was the wife of William Michael Batty, Sr. of the home.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Batty is survived by three daughters, Terri Dupak and husband Ed of Greer, SC, Rhonda Farawell of Elizabeth City, NC and Cindy Slate and husband Russ of Spring Lake, NC; two sons, William Michael Batty, Jr. and Wayne Keith Batty, both of Elizabeth City, NC; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Pepper and her son-in-law, Donald Farawell.
A funeral service will take place Monday, February 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Twiford’s Memorial Chapel with the Rev. F. Joe Griffith officiating. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Twiford Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC is assisting the Batty family. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.twifordfh.com.

Bill, I hope you know how much Barbara will be missed. She was such a thoughtful woman and always enjoyed making things for us. Keep your head up high, because now you have the sweetest angel looking down on you. She will be forever in our hearts!

Cindy, I recall the many times you and your mother rode to work with me. I also remember you riding your bicycle to my house to get a ride to work. Your were a very determined young lady.
Your mother was one of the first people I met when I started working a St. Brides. She was in the Business Office. She was always pleasant and fair with me. I pray God will Bless and comfort you and your family during your time of great loss.
