Betty Salmon

Betty Joe Lewis Salmon, 71, of 107 Dog Wood Drive, Moyock, NC died Friday, November 29, 2013 in the Sentara Nursing Facility in Barco, NC.  She was born in Macon, Georgia on July 22, 1942 to the late Amos and Marie Harden Lewis.  She was a veteran of the US Navy and was a Baptist.  Mrs. Salmon was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother.  She was so proud of her marriage to Kenneth Dale Salmon as they recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in April, 2013.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter; Kenya Dale Tranquillo of Jarvisburg, NC, a son; Kevin Douglas Salmon and wife, Carol of Chesapeake, VA; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia Marie Hurst.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 2:00pm in the Laurel Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Popular Branch, NC by the Rev. F. Joe Griffith.  The family will receive family and friends at their residence, 107 Dog Wood Drive, Moyock, NC.  Twiford Funeral Home, 405 E.     Betty worked with me at my daycare on Poyner Roads for a while. She was a very caring and loving person. She loved her grandchildren and children. May God hold you in his hands during this time.

    My words fail me at this very moment I knew this lady for over 36 years we lost touch along the way over the years but a truer friend I never had our kids were always together doing something and our husbands were always hanging out together I am so emotional over the loss to her family and me love you Betty always
