Carol “Dee” Bourne Derbin

Carol “Dee” Bourne Derbin, 72, died August 31, 2013, at the home of her daughter in Frisco, NC. Born in Walterboro, SC, on January 24, 1941, she was the daughter of the late James Blease Bourne, and Ruby Towles Bourne. Dee was a graduate of Conway High School, in Conway, SC, and the University of South Carolina School of Business. She was employed by the Horry County School District for many years. Dee was a former member of First Baptist Church, Conway, SC.

Surviving are her daughter, Tracy Derbin, and husband Mark, of Frisco, NC; granddaughters, Kylee Towles Newton and Sally Morgan Newton of the home; sister, Ann B. Melton of Murrells Inlet, SC; brothers Tom and Jon Bourne of Conway, SC; niece Julie Todd; and great-nieces Kate and Madi Evans.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date in North Carolina.

    Dee and I were close friends all through high school. Later we both worked at Horry County Schools, so we saw each other as adults also. She was so pretty and vivacious and will be missed by her friends here in Conway.
