John Joseph “J. J.” Twiford, a native of Elizabeth City, NC, is a partner of Twiford Funeral Homes, LLC and a funeral service licensee for the states of North Carolina and Virginia and has been full-time with the firm since 1998. He has a daughter, Callie Elizabeth Twiford and a son, John Wells Twiford. He is a 1994 graduate of Northeastern High School and has an Associate of Arts in Mortuary Science from John Tyler Community College in Chester, VA. He is a member of the North Carolina Funeral Director’s Association, National Funeral Directors Association, First United Methodist Church and the Improved Order of Red Men. His interests include golf, traveling, and family.

Frederick Joe Griffith, a native of Seth, West Virginia, has been a funeral director with the firm since 1988. He and his wife, Melody Rae Hunt Griffith, have one daughter, Millie Marie Griffith. He is a 1965 graduate of Sherman High School and has an A.S. and a B.S. in Education from West Virginia State College and a Pastoral Certificate from Carolina Bible Institute. He served four years in the US Air Force and two years in the WV Air National Guard. An ordained Baptist minister, he is pastor of Rehoboth Baptist Church in Maple, NC, and serves as a volunteer Chaplain for Albemarle Hospice and Albemarle Hospital. He founded and facilitates the Albemarle Area Widowed Persons Service and is a member and past-president of both the Elizabeth City Area Ministerial Association and the Improved Order of Red Men. His interests are gospel music, reading, traveling, and family.
Jerome Rust, a native of Currituck, NC, has been with the firm as a funeral director, embalmer, and crematory manager since 1989. He is married to Shellee Renee Rust and has one son, Kyle. He is a 1989 graduate of Currituck County High School and a diploma from John A. Gupton College of Mortuary Science in Nashville, TN. His interests include wood working and motorcycle riding.
Laurie Sawyer, a native of Miami, Florida, has been a secretary with the firm since 1992. She and her husband, Tom Sawyer, Jr., have two children, Shannon S. Hogge and husband, Traye and Craig Sawyer and wife, Stephanie, and four grandchildren: Noah, Haylie, Kaylyn and Riece Hogge. She is a 1978 graduate Northeastern High School and attended College of the Albemarle. She is a member of the Forest Park Church and enjoys gardening and cooking.
Robert “Bobby” Winslow, Jr., a native of Elizabeth City, NC, has been employed with the firm since 1996. Bobby is married to Debbie and has two children, Stephanie and Joey. He also has a granddaughter, Kaylee. Bobby graduated from Northeastern High School in 1976. He attends Berea Baptist Church. In 1976, he joined the U. S. Army and played music with the Army band as a drummer and trombone player. Bobby was trained as a recon scout for the second MOS until 1980. He has been a bowler for 35 years and has won many tournaments and awards. Bobby bowled on the U. S. Army team in Germany for two years. In 2006, he was invited to join the pro senior tour. He currently holds a 208 combined average. Bobby also has been a Bass member since 1981 and has fished many tournaments and fishing events. He recently has started a part-time disc jockey business and will DJ for parties, weddings, banquets and special events. Bobby in his spare time is a collector of toy trains.
Noah J.”Sam” Henderson, a native of Malone, NY, has been a funeral director and an embalmer with the firm since 1996. He and his wife, Sheila Dufrane Henderson, have four children, Trevor Henderson, Lonnie Henderson, and twins Kyle Henderson and Kimberly Owen and six grandchildren. He is a 1963 graduate of Franklin Academy High School in Malone, NY, and Simmon’s School of Embalming and Mortuary Science in Syracuse, NY. He is a US Army veteran of Viet Nam. He is a member of the Improved Order of Red Men and formerly a member of the Kiawanis Club, VFW, and Moose Lodge. He worships with the Baptist, Methodist, and Assembly of God. His interests include carpentry, electronics, guitar, and song writing.
