Retired Colonel Harry H. Hagenbrock, 83, of Kitty Hawk, NC passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2017, in Nags Head, NC after a brief, but courageous battle, with cancer. He was a beloved husband, father, uncle, and friend.
Born December 19, 1933, in Duluth, MN, he was the son of the late Harry H. Hagenbrock, Sr. and Frances E. Campbell. Harry graduated in 1957 from the University of Minnesota-Duluth, with his wife of 59 years, Evelyn Hagenbrock. He served as a commissioned officer, most of that time as a reconnaissance pilot, in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1984. He worked another fifteen years supporting Naval and Marine Aviation programs before retiring in 1999. In retirement, from 1999 until his passing, Harry was active in his beloved Outer Banks community, supporting the arts, aviation history, mentoring youth, and working on projects with fellow military retirees.
His many hobbies and interest included: tennis, baseball, football, hiking, bird watching, history, reading, gardening, and virtually everything pertaining to the Outer Banks.
Harry is survived by: wife Evelyn G. (Rapp) Hagenbrock; daughter Tara L. (Hagenbrock) Johnson, her husband Joe Johnson; daughter Dawn E. Hagenbrock; son Carl D. Hagenbrock; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at Twiford Colony Chapel in Manteo with the Rev. Dr. John Dutton officiating. Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery with service information to be announced.
