Corinne Wise Powers, 71 of 112 King’s Way, Moyock, NC died Thursday, October 18, 2012 at her residence.  A native of Kenosha, WI, she was the daughter of the late Edmond Wise and Darlene Crittenman Zimmerman and the wife of Leroy Powers of SC.  She was a sales clerk at Todd’s Pharmacy and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.  Corinne was a loving, funny, good spirited woman.  She always gave the best advice to family and friends and helped anyone who was in need the best she could.  She loved to play cards, go camping and also traveling.  She was very good at making things from scratch such as arts and crafts and she was a great seamstress.  She will be missed very dearly and never forgotten.

 She is survived by two daughters, Melody Johnson and husband Samuel and Melinda Sue Horton all of Moyock, NC; a son, Mike Lynn Horton of San Francisco, CA; two sisters, Pat Hawkins, Judy Franz; four brothers, Ernie Wise, Jerry Heywood, Gary Zimmerman and Scott Zimmerman; four grandchildren, Amanda Horton, Carlee Rankins, Robert Johnson, and Alexandra Johnson, five great grandchildren, Liam, Ellie, Jayden, Loki, and Olivia.

 A memorial service will be Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church with the Rev. James Harrington officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately after the service at the church.  Twiford Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC is assisting the Powers family.  You may express condolences to the family by visiting

    I’m so sorry to hear of Corrine’s death.
    I met her at Dr.Rogers office when I was
    taking my daughter for Chemo. She was a
    very sweet person and offered encouragement to me and my daughter each time we saw her. I loss my daughter last year in July and it’s been very hard since. Each time I would ppass by Corrine’s house, I would comment I wonder how she is doing.
