I was a classmate of Brooks for 12 years ending with our graduation from South Edgecombe High School in 1962.

Haven’t seen her since June 1962 so I remember her as she was then. A nice thoughtful lady.

We remembered her at our 50th Class Reunion in September.

Our class has a Facebook page and I will announce her passing.

Brooks Dawn Sholar, was a classmate of mine for 12 years. She was such a gracious person and I loved her. We didn’t see each other after graduating and each time we had a class reunion, I did get to speak with her. She had planned to come in 1999 and paid but wasn’t able to make it that year. Just recently we had one Sept. 15, and several people talked with her, but I never was able to get her on the phone. I am sincerely sorry for your loss and please if possible let me hear from her family, I would like to know more about Brooks and her love of animals. Jo Beth Abrams, P. O. Box 351, Pinetops, N.C. 27854, e-mail, Jcrewombie@aol.com. and Cel Phone no. 252-813-5686. I am so sorry for you loss.

I am shocked and saddened to learn about my cousin, Brooks. I just recently learned she was so sick, and was trying to set up a visit with her. We were planning to go last Saturday, but Sandy changed our plans. Would love to hear from Colin’s nephew…Brooks was like a “big sister” to me when I was growing up!

  4. Ann Edwards Hreene

Brooks and I recently talked about the past on the phone. We are first cousins and discussed family members, events, school days including up dates on classmates from grade 1-12.
She told me of her special nephew. I would really like to meet or have contact with him.
I am so sorry Brooks was sick. Margie, Shirley, and I were looking forward to seeing her. I think she was looking forward to it also. We had to cancel the trip because of Hurricane Sandy. I miss her and am sorry to hear of her passing.

Brooke was a class mate of mine. We have had her on our prayer list, since we found out she was sick at the reunion. My prayers are with you. I lost my husband almost 6 years ago and know it is not easy. Asking God to be with you.

I met Brooks when we were neighbors on Church’s Island (WaterLily) in Currituck County. After talking with her that first time, realized we were distant cousins. She was a sweet kind lady and I enjoyed knowing her. My prayers to her family and friends during this time. God Bless you all….

I recently attended an auction at Dawn’s home in Waterlily and have a personal item of her father’s – Lafayette Rook Edwards that I would like to return to his family……252-796-5207
