Deborah Davenport

Deborah Carter Davenport, 65, of 100 Camden Avenue, Camden, NC died Saturday, October 12, 2013 at W.R. Winslow Memorial Home. Born in Lumberton, NC, she was the daughter of Betty Virginia Baxley Newton and the late John E. Newton and was the wife of the late Richard C. Carter and the late Everett Ashley Davenport. Mrs. Davenport loved watching western movies, listening to country music, genealogy and Tweety Bird. Most of all, she loved spending time with her granddaughter, Kaitlyn.

Along with her mother, Mrs. Davenport is survived by a daughter, Grace “Ginny” Bray and husband Gary of Camden, NC; two sisters, Karen Britt and husband Joey of Salisbury, NC and Mary “Beth” Kinlaw and husband Billy of Lumberton, NC; two brothers, Johnny Newton and Jimmy Newton and wife Janet, all of Lumberton, NC; a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Bray; five nieces and nephews, Tracy Newton of Raleigh, NC, Meagan Hendren and husband Jarrod of Lumberton, NC, Sean Davidson of Concord, NC, Holli Britt of Chapel Hill, NC, and Kristen Kinlaw of Lumberton, NC; and a special friend, Jamie Romm. In addition to her father and her husbands, she was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Newton; and a nephew, Jonathan Rhodes.

A funeral service will take place Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Twiford Memorial Chapel with the Rev. F. Joe Griffith offiating. Burial will be Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. in New Hollywood Cemetery, Lumberton, NC. The family will receive friends Monday evening at Twiford Memorial Chapel from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 pm.; following the service in the lobby of the funeral home on Tuesday; and at all other times at 448 US Highway 158 E., Camden, NC. Memorial donations may be made to Albemarle Hospice, P.O. Box 189, Elizabeth City, NC 27907, or to the American Cancer Society, 930B Wellness Drive, Greenville, NC 27834. Twiford Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC is assisting the Davenport family. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.twifordfh.com.

    I am so sadden of the loss of Deborah. I will always remember her visit here in Georgia. Wonderful,happy,funny memories for always.She was doing her book and we had such a fun time talking and going through pictures.I wish I could have seen her one more time.
