Dorothy Brock Aydlett, age 98, passed away peacefully at home in Elizabeth City on June 7, 2018. She was the daughter of Louise Hall Brock and William Alethea Brock. Born and raised in Elizabeth City, she graduated from Elizabeth City High School and from Woman’s College of the University of North Carolina in Greensboro, where she was a member of the academic honorary Phi Beta Kappa. She married Julian Edwin Aydlett in 1940, and they had five children. Dorothy taught kindergarten for a number of years and later earned a master’s degree from East Carolina University. She worked as Coordinator of the Learning Laboratory at College of the Albemarle until her retirement, and she was an active member of First United Methodist Church.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Julian Aydlett and by her daughter, Anne Aydlett Trousdale. She is survived by her children, Clate Aydlett, Dorothy Aydlett Weaver (Huey), Judy Aydlett Midkiff (Clint) and Julian Aydlett, Jr. (Dianne). Also surviving are six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, 2018 in the Old Hollywood Cemetery officiated by the Rev. Marc O’Neal. Twiford Funeral Home, 405 E.
