Elizabeth Snowden

Elizabeth Hubbard Snowden, 86 of 779 Bell’s Island Road, Currituck, NC died Thursday, July 25, 2013 at her residence.  Born in South Norfolk, she was the daughter of the late Major Acklin Hubbard and Oreta Duncan Hubbard and the wife of Aubrey Earl Snowden of the residence.  She was a secretary for Kwik Electric and a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Rita Saunders and husband Steve of Maple, NC; a son, Jack Cox and wife Alberta of Camden, NC; a step-daughter, Bonnie Morgan and husband Les of Currituck, NC; two sisters, Darlene Kaufman of Charlottesville, VA and Eleanor Bodnar of Chesapeake, VA; three grandchildren, Stephanie Smith and husband Bobby of Kill Devil Hills, NC, Nicole Derby of Aydlett, NC and Chris Saunders of Apex, NC; and five great grandchildren, Zoe Smith, Josiah Derby, Jeremiah Derby, Chloe Derby, and Jonah Derby.  She was pre-deceased by a daughter, Cindy Owens, a sister, Ceclia Finch, and a brother, Major Acklin Hubbard, Jr., and the father of her children John Thomas Cox.  The family would like to thank her caregivers, Gloria Wissman and Marsha Raper and the 200 hall staff of Sentara Barco.

A funeral service will be Monday, July 29, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Rehoboth Baptist Church with the Rev. Frank Thigpen officiating.  Burial will be in Snowden Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the residence.  Twiford Funeral Home, Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC is serving the Snowden family.  You may express condolences to the family by visiting www.twifordfh.com.

    We will always remember the true friendship and kindness shown to our parents, Bill and Gin Lindsay. Elizabeth called them each morning to make sure they were OK. She was a very special lady and she will be missed.
