Esther Powers Sink, 87, of Elizabeth City, NC, died Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at W.R. Winslow Memorial Home.  A former resident of Kill Devil Hills, NC she was born in Greene County, TN, to the late Cecil T. and Kathleen Williams Brown and was the widow of the late Lester Lee Sink and the late Everett S. Powers.  Mrs. Sink was a former member of Kempsville Presbyterian Church and currently a member of the Outer Banks Presbyterian Church. She loved spending time with family and friends.  Mrs. Sink really enjoyed entertaining and cooking for her many friends, especially her bridge club groups.  She loved bowling and was active in two bowling leagues until she became ill at age 80.  She enjoyed playing bridge, volunteering at the Senior Center and helping with the delivery for Meals on Wheels.  Church and fellowship was very important to her and her late husbands.  When she wasn’t at home on the Outer Banks, she was traveling to Florida or going out West to visit her children, Scott and Nancy.  Mrs. Sink will be missed greatly by all who were blessed to spend time with her. 

Mrs. Sink is survived by two sons, Tom Powers and wife Lori of Moyock, NC and Scott Powers of Boseman, MT; a sister, Virginia Brady of Maryland; three grandchildren, Janine Benner, Lauren Williams and Alex Powers; and three great-grandchildren, Hunter, Haley, Dahlia and many nieces and nephews.    In addition to her parents and her husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Benner; and a sister, Betty Branich.  The family wishes to thank the nurses and aides at W. R. Winslow Memorial Home for the wonderful care they gave our mother in her final days.

A graveside service will take place Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk, VA.  The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. at Moyock Baptist Church, Moyock, NC and at other times at the residence of Tom and Lori Powers, 178 Eagle Creek Drive, Moyock, NC.  Memorial donations may be made to one’s favorite charity.  Twiford Funeral Home, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC is serving the Sink family.     Lee and Esther were friends at OBPC. I’ve been gone since 1999, so had lost contact. RIP, Esther.
