Frances Smith-Carpentieri

In Memorial

Frances Smith-Carpentieri, 65, of Southern Shores passed away on Saturday, November 30th.

She was born to the late Roger and Mary Smith on April 19, 1948 in Windsor, CT. Fran enjoyed a successful career in computer programming with Aetna for 19 years. She married Michael Carpentieri in 1976 and together they retired to the Outer Banks in 1986, where they raised their son, Jamie.

Fran loved the beach, where she walked daily for years while Michael fished. She was a part of the church family at Liberty Christian Fellowship in Colington, where her son serves as a pastor. Fran was a loving, devoted, patient and kind wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother to her four beloved grandchildren. She poured out her life to her family whom she loved dearly.

Fran is survived by her husband Michael, of Southern Shores; son Jamie and wife, Kimber, of Kitty Hawk; Brother William and wife Julie, of Punta Gorda, FL; brother Roger and wife Molly, of Winston Salem, NC; brother James and wife Margaret of Goshen, MA; many beloved nieces and nephews; and grandchildren, Cason, Elisa, Maeli and Kiah. She was received in Heaven by her father, Roger; mother, Mary; and sister, Nancy.

Fran’s life was celebrated in a private, beach-front memorial service. For those who were blessed to know her, Fran leaves a legacy of selfless, unconditional love.

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easy angered, it keeps no record of wrongs… It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails… And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” -1 Corinthians 13
