James F. Ambrose, 77, of Kitty Hawk, NC died on Sunday, November 17, 2013 at his residence. Mr. Ambrose was born in Creswell, NC, the son of the late Howard and Ruth Holmes Ambrose. He was a retired Stone Quarry Manager and was a veteran having served in the U.S. Air Force.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John Ambrose, and a grandson, Taylor.
Mr. Ambrose is survived by his wife, Patricia Mills Ambrose of the home; two sons, David Ambrose and Jeffrey Ambrose and wife, Rita; a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth; a sister, Faye and two brothers, Mike and Howard; and eight grandchildren, Madison and husband, Tyler, Nicolas, Megan, Bailey, Brady, Jacob, Melissa and Sydney.
A Memorial Service will be held at Twiford Funeral Home, Manteo on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Navigation Program at The Outer Banks Hospital, Nags Head, NC 27959.
Twiford Funeral Home, Manteo, NC is assisting the family with arrangements.

    I’ll be thinking of you during this difficult time. Jimmy was a very special person. My memories of him–he was an older cousing–bring a smile to my face. He had a very successful and interesting life–he will be missed.

    Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We lived in Mt. Tabor community and went to Mt. Tabor church. I knew Howard and Ruth(Which I called Uncle and Aunt because my name was Ambrose also. Our parents worked and went to church with them(Aldridge & Naomi Ambrose, and Wilson & Eleanor Moore.)May God grant you peace and comfort.
