John Waters

John Calvin Waters, 85, of 110 Burlington Drive, Elizabeth City, NC died Saturday, October 27, 2012 at W.R. Winslow Memorial Home.  Born in Elizabeth City, NC, he was the son of the late George and Geneva Benton Waters and was the husband of Anne Sawyer Waters of the home.  Mr. Waters was member of First Baptist Church.  He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the William Clarence Jackson VFW Post 6060 and a former member of the Improved Order of Red Men.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Waters is survived by a son, Jeffery Waters of Elizabeth City, NC; two daughters, Cheryl Simpson and husband Paul of Elizabeth City, NC and Joan Moore of Seneca, SC; and five grandchildren, Janna, Courtney, Austin, Lyle and Ian.  Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, George B. Waters and Charles E. Waters.

A funeral service will take place Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Twiford’s Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dr. David Turner officiating.  Burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.  The family will receive friends following the service in the lobby of the funeral home and at all other times at the residence of Cheryl and Paul Simpson, 203 Reedy Creek Drive, Elizabeth City, NC.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Campus Crusade, c/o Courtney Simpson, 203 Reedy Creek Drive, Elizabeth City, NC 27909.  Twiford Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC is assisting the Waters family.
