Leah Hewitt McPherson, 33, beloved daughter, sister, wife and mother, of 723 Menola Saint John Road, Ahoskie, NC died Monday, October 28, 2013 in Vidant Memorial Hospital, Greenville, NC. Leah was born on June 26, 1980 in Elizabeth City, NC to Rebecca Cartwright Morgan of Elizabeth City, NC and Lindsey Warren Hewitt of Virginia. She was the wife of Clay McPherson. Leah was a second grade school teacher with Faulkland Elementary School, Faulkland, NC. Her favorite past-time was spending time with her friends, reading and enjoying her time at the beach at the Outer Banks.
Besides her husband, Clay, and her parents, Leah is survived by her daughter, Anna Elizabeth McPherson of the home; her step father, Tom Morgan of Elizabeth City, NC; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Weston and Sandra McPherson of Kill Devil Hills, NC; her maternal grandfather, Ernest “Rabbit” Cartwright of Elizabeth City, NC; paternal step grandmother, Doris Morgan of Corapeake, NC; a brother, Ashton Hewitt of Elizabeth City, NC; a step sister, Leigh Markham of South Mills, NC and two step brothers, James Morgan of Sunbury, NC and John Morgan of Corapeake, NC; a sister-in-law, Stephanie McPherson Astley and husband Chris of York, PA; and two nieces, Sarah Helms and Betsy McPherson Astley of York, PA.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, November 1, 2013 at 11:00am at City Road United Methodist Church, by Rev. Charles McKenzie. Burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives at Twiford Funeral Home, Church St., Thursday evening from 7:00 until 8:30pm, also immediately following the church service and at other times at the home of John and Sarah Pugh, 900 Riverside Avenue, Elizabeth City, NC.
