Brian Vernon, 54 passed away Saturday evening, July 29, 2017, surrounded by family and friends. He had been in failing health due to cancer the last four years and had been hospitalized on and off for the past few months. He was born in Norfolk, Virginia and lived in South Mills, North Carolina for the last twenty years. Brian leaves behind his parents, Lewis and Nina Vernon; his brother, David Vernon; and his daughter, Maranda Vernon.
Brian loved spending his days hunting and running dogs. He was a member of Orbit Hunting Club as well as Southside Hunting Club where he made many lifelong friends who were considered to be family. He thought very highly of each one of you and would greatly appreciate everything you have done for him and his family. When Brian wasn’t working or hunting his time was devoted to his daughter Maranda. He could be found at every softball game cheering her on.
Goodbyes are very hard but sometimes they mean you are very lucky, sometimes it means you parted ways with someone or something that was irreplaceably special. Sometimes it means that your heart was touched by another heart in the most beautiful way. I will never forget our times together hunting where we shared not only laughs but where you shared your wisdom and advice on life with me and I will never forget how special you made me feel. Goodbyes are endings but they don’t end memories. You will never be forgotten and you will always be loved by all. Love you always, Pumpkin.
In accordance with Brian’s wishes there will be no service. Twiford Funeral Home, Elizabeth City is assisting the Vernon family. Condolences may be expressed at www.TwifordFH.com.
