Lillian Ferrell

Lillian Sawicki Ferrell, 89, of 417 Carter Road, Elizabeth City, NC died Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at her residence. A native of Schenectady, NY, she was the daughter of the late John F. Sawicki and Helen Rotter Sawicki and the widow of Quentin E. Ferrell. She was a retired Head Nurse Anesthetist at Virginia Beach General Hospital, a U.S. Navy Veteran, a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Rosary Alter Society.

She is survived by a son, Barry G. Ferrell of Elizabeth City, NC and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be Monday, June 6, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with The Very Rev. James Buchholz, V.F. officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. for a viewing and visitation.     I am very saddened at the loss of one of the best friends that I ever had. We worked together for many years and never had even a cross word between us.
    she was one of the most compassionate, and capable ladies that I have ever met. Barry, and family, may God give you peace.

    I worked with Lillian at Associated Anesthesia from 1973 until she retired. She was an excellent anesthetist and many people alive today owe their lives to her skills. Her personality and work ethic made it more pleasant to come to work each day. Our thanks and prayers are with the family.
