Linda Barclift

Linda Reid Barclift, 92 of Nixonton, NC was called to her heavenly home on Thursday, August 29, 2013 with her family at her bedside.

Born in Pasquotank County, she was a lifelong resident of the Nixonton Community and the eldest daughter of the late William F. Reid and Victoria I. Reid. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Shelton T. Barclift, a son, Shelton Thomas Barclift and a sister, Wilma R. Swain.

She was a woman of deep religious faith and a member of the former Halls Creek Methodist Church. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family and friends. It gave her great joy to do for others. Sunday dinners for her family were one of her specialties. She was an avid gardener and loved growing and sharing her many beautiful flowers. Also, she enjoyed sewing and fishing on her pier with the grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Barclift Hardee of Chesapeake, VA; two sons, William E. Barclift and wife Mayrobi of Elizabeth City, NC and Reid Barclift and wife Brenda of Shiloh, NC; two sisters, Louise Tuttle and Shirley White and husband Donald all of Elizabeth City, NC; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

The family would like to give a special thanks to her caregivers, Brenda DeBerry, Jeanette Shaw and Ashlay Barclift and the nurses on the second and fifth floor of Albemarle Hospital for their compassionate care of our loved one.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, September 1, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. at Twiford Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Hans Hess officiating. Burial will follow in New Hollywood Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Saturday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p. m. at Twiford Funeral Home, Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC and at the residence at other times. Flowers are welcomed or memorials may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 5950 Fairview Rd., Suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28210. Twiford Funeral Home, 405 E.
