Linwood Asa Lowe, Sr., 86, of 4000 Amstel Court, Elizabeth City, NC died Friday, February 1, 2013 at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital.  Born in Perquimans County, NC, he was the son of the late William Asa and Corny Scaff Lowe and was the husband of Katie Hassell Lowe.  Mr. Lowe was a member of Pearl Street Pentecostal Church and served for 42 years as an Ordained Deacon of the International Pentecostal Church of Christ.  He proudly served in the United States Army and was a veteran of World War II.  He was a retired postal worker and then went on to pursue his love of driving tractor trailers for E.F. Thompson and C. A. Perry.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Lowe is survived by a daughter, Gail L. McKinney and husband Thomas Wayne McKinney of Virginia Beach, VA; a son, Linwood Asa Lowe, Jr. and wife Connie C. Lowe of Chesapeake, VA; four grandchildren Elizabeth McKinney Nunez and husband Francisco, Thomas “TJ” McKinney, Asa Lowe III and wife Elizabeth, Bradley Lowe and wife Charity; and five great-grandchildren.  Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Marguerite L. Gilden, Norma L. Bishop and Bertha L. White; and two brothers, William Lowe and Hilton Lowe.

A funeral service will take place Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Pearl Street Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Richard Blevins, the Rev. Rick Lowery and the Rev. Asa Lowe officiating.  Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Twiford Memorial Chapel and at other times at the residence of Asa and Connie Lowe, 1028 Fairhaven Road, Chesapeake, VA.  Twiford Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC is assisting the Lowe family.
