  7. Bryan S. Godfrey, near Richmond, VA

Mr. Little and my great-grandmother, Mattie White Godfrey (1891-1993), were third cousins through the Pailin and Garrett families, and I give my condolences to their family, and belated condolences regarding his death. I am glad they both came from long-living families and lived such long, active lives, but I’m so sorry about what you all went through 32 years ago. I only saw the Littles one time, almost exactly ten years before Mr. Little’s death, when I was photocopying Pailin family group sheets Mrs. Little compiled, and was amazed at their good health and longevity even then. I later heard Mr. Little insisted on walking to work and that may have been the secret to his longevity, something he influenced me to do as much as possible. If any of their family are interested in genealogy, I shall be glad to share what I have compiled on our mutual ancestry, and I have compiled other sides of their ancestry too. My email is, and my website can be located by googling “bryan s godfrey,” in which there is a file on descendants of John Moore, one of our mutual ancestors on the Garrett side. The Pailin ancestry has some gaps in it though.

I am so sorry for your loss. May “the God of all comfort” (2 Corinthians 1:3,4) comfort and soothe your heart. His promises, found in the Holy Scriptures, can offer much hope. It assures us at John 5:28,29 that our loved ones will be remembered and brought back to life in the resurrection. Please allow God’s Word to strengthen you and help you to endure this most difficult time.

Mrs. Little was my 1st grade teacher at Sheep Harney many years ago and was a wonderful lady. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you during this difficult time.
