On Sunday, April 8, 2018, our precious Matt-Matt went home to be with our Lord. Matt was a loving son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin and most of all, a wonderful friend to many. Matt was happiest when he could spend time with his family and friends. He sure could make us laugh. He had a loving heart and would help you in any way he could.
Matt loved to hunt, fish and jumped at the chance to his do his wild thing on the water with his family and friends. He was an easy-going person who appreciated the simple things in life and wanted for no more than that. He graduated from Currituck High School in 2009. Matt had the opportunity to travel and see thirty-two of our United States through his employment which he loved to do as was evident in all the beautiful pictures he shared with everyone back home. We all wish we had more time for the things we would have loved to do with Matt.
Life is not going to be the same. We will always miss Matt’s kindred spirit and infectious smile. The sun will never shine as bright nor will the stars at night. God must have needed a special angel, so he took you from us way too soon. Your memory will live forever in our hearts and minds until we see you again.
Matt is survived by his mother, Laura Gochnauer; step-father, Dale Gochnauer; father, Thomas Ralph Meiggs; a sister, Cassidy Meiggs; a brother, Shawn Meiggs; a step sister, Harmony Gochnauer; a step brother, Hayden Gochnauer, all of Moyock, NC; and his grandmother, Joyce Meiggs, also of Moyock, NC. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ralph Meiggs, and grandparents, Marvin and Irene Banks.
