Melvin Wright Williams, 92 of 102 Ranch Drive, Elizabeth City, NC died Monday, February 6, 2017 at Elizabeth City Health and Rehabilitation. He was born in Hyde County, NC on September 5, 1924 to the late Calvin Bishop Williams and Dessie Marie McKinney Williams and was the husband of the late Myrtle Blanch Williams. He was an ice cream maker for Foreman Dairy Ice Cream Company and worked with fiberglass for many people in the community. Since 1948 he was a member of Journey Christian Church formerly Elizabeth City Church of Christ and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by two daughters, Patsy Williams DeGroot of Green Bay, WI and Barbara Ann Williams (Marvin Trimmer) of Elizabeth City, NC; two sons, Mark W. Williams (Nancy) of Elizabeth City, NC and Larry W. Williams (Toni) of Hayes, VA; eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a special friend, Mildred Rogerson. He was pre-deceased by three sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Journey Christian Church with Pastor Emmett Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in West Lawn Cemetery.
