Morgia Gard

Morgia Worth Garrett Gard, 87, of Rocky Mount, NC died Monday, February 4, 2013 at Nash General Hospital in Rocky Mount, NC.  A native of Pasquotank County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Ayers and Almedia Carr Garrett and was the wife of the late Wilton F. “Hipps” Gard.  She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and retired as bookkeeper for Rucker & Sheely.

 Mrs. Gard is survived by two daughters, Bettie Gard Lowe of Kill Devil Hills, NC and Anne Gard Bates and husband David of Rocky Mount, NC.  Left to cherish the memory of their grandmother are four grandchildren, Kevin Lowe and wife Jennifer; Shawn Lowe and wife Jenn; Christie Chewning and husband Scott and Dr. Susan Bates and husband Jamie Kirkpatrick and three great grandchildren, Matthew Wilton Lowe, Davis William Lowe and Camryn Amelia Lowe.    

 A funeral service will take place Friday, February 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Twiford Memorial Chapel with the Rev. F. Joe Griffith officiating.  Burial will follow in Old Hollywood Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Thursday evening at Twiford Memorial Chapel from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.  Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 301 E. Main Street, Elizabeth City, NC 27909 or the Elizabeth City Fire Department.  Twiford Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC is assisting the Gard family.     Hello Bettie, I am sure you don’t remember me,but you tought me in school ….the year you got married. I just wanted to say how sorry
    I am to hear of your mom’s passing. Having lost my mom just a couple of years ago, I understand. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

    Aunt Anne I am deeply sorry for your loss.. Ms. Gard was an awesome person, and she was well loved. When ever I saw her she treated me as if I was one her own!! I am going miss her as I have missed you all over the past years, and I hope you are all at peace.. Love to you all, Pam

    Sorry to hear about your Mom. Wish we could attend the funeral and be with you, but we are in California.
    Morjie Worth was a special part of my life and enjoyed being in her home when I was young. I will always have special memories of her.

    I think you might remember me. I worked for your dad and I worked on the house on church st. ? I’m so sorry to hear about your moms passing. I considered her a dear friend and I have fond memories visiting and talking with her. She was a great lady. God bless you all and give you peace.
