Buena Vista Ballance, 100 of 1075 US Highway 17 South, Elizabeth City, NC died Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Winslow Memorial Home. A native of Hatteras, NC, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Drayton Ballance and Nola Willis Ballance. She was retired from the Elizabeth City Cotton Mill and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Grace Latham Quidley of Augusta, GA, and Yvonne Latham Lilly and husband Bill of Elizabeth City, NC; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and eleven great great grandchildren. Gertrude Ellen Coggins Russell, 92, of Piedmont, S. C., wife of the late James David Russell died Saturday, April 27, 2013. Born in Jackson County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Coggins and Lucy Knight Owen. Mrs. Russell retired from her work as a seamstress and was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Shawboro.
