Mrs. Gregory was born July 27, 1916, in the Grandy community of Currituck County, and was the daughter of the late Ruben Acklin Duncan and Emma Jane Forbes Gregory. She was a graduate of the Moyock High School, a former buyer with Belk’s of Elizabeth City, and was employed with W. T. Grants of Elizabeth City and managed the Fabric Shop in Elizabeth City.
