Orville Youmans

Orville Layton Youmans, Sr., 80 of 102 Cherry Drive, Moyock, NC died Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at his residence.  A native of Burton, SC, he was the son of the late Robert Purnell Youmans and Dollie Mae Bennett Youmans and the husband of Clara Elaine Aukland Youmans of the residence.  He served in the SC National Guard for four years and was a retired Chief Signalman with twenty-two years in the U.S. Navy, a member of Pilmoor United Methodist Church, the William Clarence Jackson VFW Post 6060, the American Legion, and the Fleet Reserve.

Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter, Cynthia A. Youmans of Barco; two sons, Orville “Sonny” Youmans, Jr. and wife Cindy, of Barco, NC and Brian Youmans of Moyock, NC; a sister, Sara Alice Schauffort of Reading, PA; two brothers, James Youmans and Robert Youmans both of Summerville, SC; and a grandson, William Kevin Youmans of Barco.

A funeral service will be Friday, January 27, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Twiford’s Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Randy Blanchard officiating and the William Clarence Jackson VFW Post 6060 will render military Honors. Burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Thursday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.  Twiford Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC is serving the Youmans family.  You may express condolences to the family by visiting www.twifordfh.com.
