Robert Whitehead, Sr.

Robert William Whitehead, Sr., 66, of 126 Fullbrick Lane, Barco, NC parted to be with the Lord on Friday, October 25, 2013 at his home. Born in Norfolk, VA, he was the son of the late Vivian Whitehead Bryan and was raised from birth by his maternal grandparents, the late Ernest and Rose Whitehead. He was the husband of Donna Marie Chick Whitehead. Mr. Whitehead was a veteran of the United States Navy having served in Vietnam. He worked for thirty years for the Operating Engineers Local 147.

In addition to his wife of forty-six years, Mr. Whitehead is survived by a daughter, Teresa Ann Aubuchon and husband Walter of Missouri; a son, Robert William Whitehead, Jr. of Virginia Beach, VA; two sisters, Nora Hanson and husband Gary and Serena Bryan, all of Virginia Beach, VA; two brothers, Terry Bryan and wife Sarah of Suffolk, VA and Richard Pembroke of Virginia Beach, VA; five grandchildren, Christopher and Deven Grant, Paris, Jeremiah and Sierra Whitehead; a special family companion, Angela Phelps of Barco, NC; numerous nieces and nephews, and countless foster children from through the many years Mr. and Mrs. Whitehead were active in the foster program.

A memorial service will take place Sunday, November 3, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at Coinjock Baptist Church with the Rev. Ricky Bishop officiating. The family suggests memorial donations to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675. Twiford Funeral Home, Memorial Chapel, 405 E.     Donna, I’m so sorry, about Bobby’s passing you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. You were so blessed to have him in your life for 46 wonderful yrs. I know you will miss him terribly. Just remember he will be with you in your heart forever. My love and hugs are with you!!!

    Donna, please know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. I speak on behalf of our classmates when I say that we ALL share in your grief and Bobby was indeed “one of kind”…the BEST kind. Bobby is gone…but he will NEVER be forgotten.
