Samuel Lewis Smith, 69, of 104 E. Heron Court, Elizabeth City, NC, died Friday, July 19, 2013 at Kindred Care.  Born in East Lake, NC, he was the son of the late Samuel and Iris Mae Creef Smith and was the husband of Connie Hope Smith.  Mr. Smith had worked as a painter at Norfolk Naval Shipyard.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Deborah Lynn; three stepsons, Michael, Stephen and James Pizer; and two sisters, Gail and Edith.

The family will receive friends at the residence on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.  Twiford Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC is assisting the Smith family. Condolences may be expressed to the family at
