I am very sorry to learn of Mrs. Houpe’s passing. I remember so many years ago when she and Mr. Houpe built the Three Way Grocery at the intersection of US 64 and Henredon Road just outside of Morganton, which was just down the hill from my parent’s home.

I moved away from Morganton 53 years ago and have lost track of the Houpe family, so I am grateful that I happened to see the notice in the News Herald online edition.

    Again, my deepest condolences.

    Jesse Barbour, Jr.
