Susan Carole White Otts, 63, of 696 Glade Road, passed away in her home on November 25, 2017, after battling posterior cortical atrophy, a rare form of early onset dementia.
Susan was born in Elizabeth City on December 10, 1953, to Leah Jones White of Elizabeth City and the late John E. White. She was the wife of Blair Otts. Susan was valedictorian of Northeastern High School and graduated from College of the Albemarle. She was a well-liked childbirth educator and nurse, but her favorite role was Nana to her nine grandchildren.
Other than her husband and mother, she is survived by her children: Rachel Farrell, (J.J.) and children, Graysen, Ava, Will, Jack, Kate, and Ellie, of Louisburg, N.C.; David Otts (Leslie) and daughters, Avery and Lauren, of Elizabeth City; Ashley Otts (Renee) and daughter, Sadie, of Elizabeth City. She is also survived by her brothers, Glenn White (Joan), of Wake Forest, NC, and J. Nelson White (Elizabeth), of Elizabeth City, sister-in-law, Lana Reynolds, of Olean, NY, brother-in-law, Doug Otts, of Washington, NC, and several nieces and nephews. The family also wishes to thank Susan’s dear friend, Melody Overton, and Belinda Dotson and the staff of Albemarle Home Care and Hospice, for the love and care they’ve shown Susan and her family.
Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery by Pastor Joey Hobbs. The family will receive friends and relatives at Twiford Funeral Home, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, on November 27, 2017 from 7:00-8:30 p.m., and at other times at the home of Nelson White, 1900 Darian Drive. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund, 34 Washington St., Suite 200, Wellesley Hills, MA 02481.
