Virginia Goodwin Copeland Cox of 119 Bayberry Drive, Elizabeth City, NC passed away Friday, November 8, 2013 at her home. Mrs. Cox was born in Perquimans County, NC on January 12, 1918 and was the daughter of the late Levi Augustus Goodwin and Fannie White Goodwin and was the wife of the late T.D. Copeland, the father of her children, and the late Alvin Cox. Mrs. Cox was a member of Faith Baptist Church where she attended for many years. She loved to talk about her years growing up on the farm and picking cotton.

Surviving are her daughters, Phyllis Dozier of Currituck, NC, Doris Parker and husband Lee of Newport News, VA and Faye Tarkington and husband George of Camden, NC; son-in-law, Ted Peacock of Colorado; seven grandchildren, Angela Dunkailo, Robert Peacock, Laura Peacock, Jeffrey Thornley, Michael Thornley, Jean Rushby and Ken Tarkington; eight great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Ruth Brickhouse. In addition to her parents and her husbands, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Joyce Peacock; two sisters, Dixie Gregory and Bessie Sawyer; three brothers, Wallace Goodwin, Sidney Goodwin and Levi Goodwin; and several half brothers and sisters.

A graveside funeral service will take place Monday, November 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Twiford Memorial Chapel on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and at other times at the residence of Faye and George Tarkington, 317 N. Highway 343, Camden, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Faith Baptist Church, 113 Foxboro Drive, Elizabeth City, NC 27909; or to a favorite charity. Twiford Funeral Home, Memorial Chapel, 405 E.
