Wilson Van Tatem, 72, of Virginia Road, Tyner, died Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Sentara Albemarle Hospital. A native of Virginia, he was born in Norfolk on August 14, 1945 to the late Wilson Pryke Tatem and Vera Stone Tatem. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy and was a retired rigger from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard.
He is survived by a son, Matthew, and his wife Shannon, of Nags Head; a daughter, Amy Walters of Currituck; a sister, Barbara Hollowell of Edenton, NC; three brothers, Butch, Ronnie and Mike Tatem, all of Tyner; one grandchild, Laycee Tatem; and a special friend, Cindy Kline.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Twiford Memorial Chapel. Family will receive visitors two hours prior to the service.
