On Thursday, June 2, 2022, Aubrey Thomas Davis Sr, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away at age 84 at Peak Resources in Nags Head, NC.
Aubrey was born on June 28, 1937, in Tarboro, NC to William and Mary (Ballance) Davis. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina State University in 1960 and worked in food packaging design for RJ Reynolds in Winston Salem for more than 25 years and at Fleming Potter in Peoria, IL for 10 years. His jobs took him to Europe, South America and the Middle East and ignited a love for people around the world. In retirement, he enjoyed teaching at Forsyth Community College, volunteering for the Network for Endangered Sea Turtles (OBX), Store House for Jesus (Winston Salem), and being a ranger at the Currituck Club. He could be found outside his son’s restaurant, the Outer Banks Brewing Station, cleaning up, landscaping and greeting employees and customers alike.
Aubrey was an amazing person, a wonderful father and grandfather, and a devoted husband. He loved traveling, swimming in the ocean, singing in the church choir and working in his yard. He never met a stranger no matter where he was, and he lived life to the fullest. He loved helping people, and was known for his quick wit, infectious smile and laugh, and his kind and compassionate spirit.
Aubrey was preceded in death by his father, William, his mother, Mary and his brother Billie. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Bobbie, his two children, Aubrey Jr and Susan, their spouses Karen and Greg, and his four grandchildren, Sienna, Acy, Ewan and Kaylan.
A celebration of his life will take place on the Outer Banks in Kill Devil Hills, NC on September 20, 2022. Donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, Store House for Jesus in Mocksville, NC and to Saint Jude’s Hospital.

I remember Aubrey from when I worked at the Baum Senior Center a few years back (about 25). One time he came in looking for someone to stay with Mr. Beau while he & Bobbi went on vacation. As a dog lover, I was recommended. So I stayed with Mr. Beau while Aubrey & Bobbi were away. I loved Mr. Beau, and Bobbi & Aubrey were both so nice. I had not seen Aubrey since I retired, but was thinking about them just a few days ago. So sorry to read this.

Dear Bobbie, I am so sorry for the loss of your husband, Aubrey. You have come to mind very recently, causing me to wonder how all of you are doing. My lifelong friend, Libby Vestal Tuttle, saw the obituary last weekend and shared with me. I remember when you and Aubrey met and began dating, and am happy that you have enjoyed a long life together and are blessed with precious children and grandchildren. I pray that you are well and are finding comfort, strength and peace through the Holy Spirit, through many sweet memories and through your loving family and caring friends. God bless you during this sad time.
Love,
