Offer Condolence for the family of Capt. Gilbert Vernon Barrington
To his children, extended family, and many friends who loved him — we send our sincere sympathy.
Laura, Angie and the rest of the family. I first met Vernon in the early 60’s at the old Mattamuskeet lodge along with a lot of his family. He truly was an outdoorsman. I have not seen him in quite a while but when ever I did we had a good time catching up. He loved his children and proud of the grandchildren. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. He has crossed over THE BAR and telling LEE about whats been happening.
So sorry to here about Vernon. I loved Jenny Mae and her whole family. All of you will be in my prayers!
Sorry to hear of Vern’s passing. We did not have the honor of knowing him as long as the rest of you. Our son and daughter in-law were neighbors in Manteo. Rick thought a lit of Vern and we got to know him on our visits to NC. Rick, his Dad and Vern swapped stories that I am sure were right on true!!. Prayers for family and friends for Gods peace.
With sincere sympathy at the loss of such a kind and thoughtful man.
All suffering is over and now he is at peace.
“Home is the sailor,
home from the sea,
And the hunter,
home from the hill.”
To Vernon’s family, my prayers and condolences. I knew him way back when I lived in lovely Dare County. I watch his grandchildren’s triumphs online. Angie and Laura, he loved you so much and was proud of you. May God’s love be your comfort. Love, Mary
My thoughts are with you and your family at this time; may your memories bring you comfort.

My heart and prayers go out to the family. May God provide much needed comfort…
Rest Peacefully, Capt. Barrington.
Vernon always had an infectious smile on his face, and a jolly disposition.
May the far shore welcome you…. with new and old friends, …and fellow outdoorsmen.
Prayers to his families for peace in their difficult time.
Keeping you and yours in our prayers.
Praying peace and comfort for you and yours.
i am very sorry to hear of Captain Vernon passing. He was always a good customer and I enjoyed talking with him about the old stories he always had them ready to tell. I wish I could attend the memorial service this weekend but I will be out of town. He is missed around the docks.
So sorry for your family s loss. May his memories always bring a smile to you’re heart
I haven’t seen Vernon in so time now. I have many fond memories of our hunting days. We did our share of exploring to find a better hunting place.
May the family be blessed to have such a great person in their family.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Vernon’s family. We have lost another “good old friend.”

So sorry to hear this news. He was a friend and mentor, as I came up through the charter boat ranks in the 80’s. Thoughts and prayers to Laura, Angie, and the rest of the family.
Vernon was a friend and mentor to myself and many others, The Barrington family is in my thoughts and prayers.
Angie and Laura, my sincere condolences to you and your family.
We offer our love and concern to the family. Thanks for sharing Captain Vern with us here in the mountains.
During the short time I got to spend with Capt. I enjoyed his many stories of family and friends. He always had a new recipe for seafood to share and a wonderful big smile. I will miss him and his stories. The community of Ashe county has lost a good friend by his passing.
