Carole Shetrom Scoble, age 84, of Elizabeth City, NC died Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Elizabeth City Health & Rehab Center. She was born December 25, 1937 to the late James William Shetrom and Mary Florence Patterson Shetrom. She retired after 25 years with Hampton Roads Transit Authority and was an avid lover of all animals. She loved to sing, especially Barbara Streisand songs and could sing just like her. Carole was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Norfolk, VA, American Legion Auxillary Post #327 and VFW Post #4809 as well.
She is survived by four daughters, Florence Collins (James) of NC, Tina Lacy (Tommy) of PA; Carolyn Miller of PA, Angela Elder (Donny) of PA; and one son, Bobby Laughlin (Amy) of PA; twelve grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition, she leaves behind her much-loved canine companion, Mazie. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Robin Sunderland; and a brother, James Shetrom; and son-in-law, Harry Miller.
The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff of Elizabeth City Health & Rehab Center for their care of Ms. Carole in her final days.
The family will have a private gathering over the Thanksgiving holiday.
