Charles William “Bill” Stoddard, Jr., 69, of 147 Olivet Circle, Elizabeth City, NC died Sunday, August 4, 2019 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He was born August 10, 1949 in Rensselaer, IN to Nancy Ellen York Stoddard and the late Charles William Stoddard, Sr. and the widower of Kathleen Finnerty Stoddard. He was a maintenance mechanic at the Elizabeth City Coast Guard Base, a Catholic, a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, and served in the U.S. Coast Guard.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two daughters, Deanna Green and David of Kernersville, NC and Tonia Stoddard and Roy Coleman of Shreveport, LA; four brothers, Nick Stoddard (Karen) of Clarksville, IN, Mark (Patty) Stoddard of Elizabeth City, NC, Tom (Robin) Stoddard of Jeffersonville, IN, and Paul (Teresa) Stoddard of Richmond, IN; two grandchildren, Jordan Green and Brittney Green; and many nieces and nephews.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman with a passion for the outdoors, and a huge LSU, Notre Dame, and NASCAR fan. He found his home in the Coast Guard both during his active duty and his most recent job as a federal employee where he considered his team his family. The family would like to express their gratitude to the dedicated staff of the Cardiac ICU.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 8, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Twiford Memorial Chapel with Father Michael Schuetz officiating.
