David Lee McNamee, 72, of Currituck, NC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 10, 2019. David was born in Richmond, VA on August 17, 1946 to Dorothy DeBerry McNamee.
From an early age, David had a love for history, animals, and the outdoors. He was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond where he was a proud member of the Cadet Corps. He was a Veteran of the Army Reserve and graduated from North Carolina Wesleyan College where he studied history, played soccer, and made lifelong friendships.
David and his wife, Ann, have shared a love for their home in Currituck that included beach music, dancing, fishing, hunting, cooking, and spending time with their beloved dog PeeDee.
His mother, Dorothy DeBerry McNamee, predeceased David, as did his four devoted aunts: Alma Lee Evans, Julia D. Slater, Virginia D. Person, and Marie A. DeBerry; and his cousin, Anne Slater Lloyd.
David is survived by his loving wife, Ann Marie Dublinski McNamee, of Currituck; by his daughter, Lisa McNamee Williams and her husband, Patrick, of Charlotte; and by his two grandchildren, Margaret Cathryn Williams and Carter Lee Williams. He is also survived by Ann’s sons, Steven Dublinski of Virginia Beach, VA and David Dublinski of Chesapeake, VA; by their two granddaughters and two great granddaughters. In addition, he is survived by his special cousins, James Person of Leesburg, VA and Mark Person of Richmond, VA and their families.
