Ellen H. Bishop, 92, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, June 11, 2015. She was born May 1, 1923 in Pasquotank County, North Carolina to Carey S. Ballance, Jr. and Norma Eller Brite Ballance and was the widower of Grady Bishop.
Mrs. Bishop is survived by her sister, Barbara Hagatha of Lake Alfred, Florida; three step-sons, Grady D. Bishop of Bellevue, Nebraska, Charles A. Bishop of Jacksonville, Florida, and William A. Bishop of Newport News, Virginia; five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by eleven siblings, a step-son and a step-daughter.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Twiford Memorial Chapel. A visitation will take place from 1:00 to 2:00 prior to the service. The Bishop family is served by Twiford Funeral Home, Memorial Chapel, 405 E. Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC.
