Elton Russell “Dick” Armstrong, 68, of 109 Letitia Drive, Elizabeth City, NC died Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at his residence. Born in Chowan County, he was the son of the late Harry Roosevelt Armstrong and Sarah Gertrude English Armstrong. He was a welder with Ward and Son.
He is survived by four sisters; Lois Turner and Sandra Joyce White both of Elizabeth City, NC, Thelma Carter of Virginia Beach, VA, and Linda Armstrong of Manteo, NC; two brothers, Harry Armstrong of Attleboro, MA, and Wayne Armstrong of Harbinger, NC; and his significant other, Pamela Nowak.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Twiford Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jason Wise officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home lobby immediately after the service. Twiford Funeral Home, Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC is assisting the Armstrong family.

Sorry to hear of Dicks passing. He was a good man. He was the only father I knew for most of my life. He stepped up and helped my mom ( his wife who predeceased him ) Bernice Runkles Armstrong raise me. I won’t go into detail here, but things happened and we didn’t see one another as much as I would have liked, but every chance we got we stopped by while in town so he could see his surviving grandchildren, Bryant Jr. , Noah and Channin. ( the only paw paw they ever knew) Rest easy Dick ! We love you and will see you again one day. Ps. Lorenda your baby sister loves you too.
