Gregory Wayne Sheriff, age 65, of Glade Road, Elizabeth City, NC died Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center surrounded by his children and his sister. Born in Great Lakes, IL on October 19, 1954 to the late William Ray Sheriff and Georgia Mae Stewart Sheriff, he served 23 years in the U. S. Army as a Medic. During his time in the Military he was deployed as a medic with the 46th Combat Support Unit in Desert Storm and the conflict in Somalia. After military retirement, he continued with his nursing career.
Greg is survived by his sister, Connie Sue Clevinger; his children, Pamela Banchs (Jose), William Michael Sheriff (Liz), Daniel Joseph Sheriff and Lisa Marie Sheriff (Albert); grandchildren Tre’, Antonio, Samantha, Michael, Hayley, Emily, Bella. Ava, Colby, Kensley, Adison, Avery, Austin; and great grandchild, Brayden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Ray Sheriff.
He was a simple and quiet man. Some of his hobbies included fishing, going to casinos, and spending time with his family. He enjoyed sports and was a huge football and baseball fan. His favorite 2 teams were the Dallas Cowboys and the Atlanta Braves.
