am sure that many lives have been changed because of him.
Please let us know if we can help in any way.

Condolence from Wayne and Linda Dunn on June 20th, 2015 9:09 pm

We have very fond memories of Reverend Hemingway as he preached at Manteo Baptist many
years ago. He was always excited about the Word of God and no matter which scripture he was led to
preach on, it was always his “favorite verse.” He was a sweet man that helped heal a congregation.
Our sympathy goes out to his family. He is with his Lord now!

Condolence from Roxanne Jackson on June 20th, 2015 10:36 pm

I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Hemingways going home. He was a great man and friend to many. Enjoyed when he was at Manteo Baptist preaching and went over to Powells point to listen to him on special occasion. When I was going to Norfolk to the Dr many years ago daddy and we would stop at Hardees for breakfast and would sit down and talk with him. He always had a smile on his face and words of encouragement to many.
Love and prayers to each and every one of you. He is home in heaven now catching up with all his family and friends that have gone to heaven before him.

Condolence from Teresa Morgan on June 21st, 2015 11:35 am

This was a wonderful man. He Baptized me. My fond memories of him are when I worked Subway in Walmart. He would come in and sit while Sister Grace shopped. I would give him a small cup of popcorn. The expression on his face when I told him I was saved is priceless. He said he wanted to Baptize me. And of course for me that was an honor. Look forward to seeing him on the other side.

Condolence from Dorman Swain on June 23rd, 2015 10:26 am

We have lost a jewel with the death of Herbie. I was honored to have known him for 68 years. We served together in the Coast Guard at 5 different duty stations and he made a big impact on my life. He gave my daughter, Donna, her first bible, and she still uses that one to this day. Grace, I truly understand what you are going through and feeling, I lost my wife, Jackie, back in January of this year. I know your loving family and your loving church family will help you get through this. Just know how many lives he touched for the good and how many people will always have kind remembrances of him. God Bless you.

Condolence from Robert Jones on June 24th, 2015 6:26 pm

I’m sorry I couldn’t be with you today to celebrate Mr. Hemingway’s life. I’d like to share with you what he meant to me. One evening a long time ago I had just gotten my EMT certification and I came upon a wreck on 158. Rev. Hemingway was in the back of the ambulance and I asked him if I could help in any way. Well I wound up riding to the hospital with him and he talked me into joining the Lower Currituck Rescue Squad. I worked with him many times afterwards, and always looked forward to see him pull up in that old Dodge ambulance. Eventually I started working in EMS and Rev. Hemingway’s advice and mentoring set me on a path in EMS that I would follow for the rest of my life.
He had a passion in everything he did and I am saddened by his passing, but I know that my memories of him will always be there for me. I wish I could find words to ease your pain right now but I’m sure the loving memories will give you comfort. May God Bless all of you. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
