Condolence from Charles “Skip” Mahaffey II on July 21st, 2020 9:40 pm

To the family….Jimmie was as much an influence and positive person in my life as my own great Hero, my Dad. Mr. Jimmie always had a positive word and message for me. He allowed me to learn, experience, witness, and perfect so many experiences when I worked with him and for him. He was a Boss like no other. We all use to say, “if you went hungry working at Tanglewood, it was your own fault.” He always looked out for his people. I never imagined a world with a Tanglewood or a Jimmie Winslow, but now I am forced to accept both. I remember a conversation one late, hot day and I was working on a tractor and Mr. Jimmie came up to me and asked, very distinctly, “Hey Bud, you love it here at Tanglewood, dont you?”….I replied that “I did”….he patted me on the back and for a moment, we were on the same page. I’ll never forget it. He was a great man. I’ll miss him terribly.

Charles Mahaffey II

Please know how special we think your family is and how much we love you in Christ. Please allow us to assist you any way we can. Many blessings, Holly Audette

I am fondly remembering Jimmie inviting us to the Easter Drama at Evangelical Methodist and how special it was to be a part. Condolence from Cathy B Wilson on July 23rd, 2020 8:51 am

I know at least 1 fishing-shirt-wearing Jesus lover welcoming Jimmy into Heaven this glorious day. I am sure Tarheel-lover Berle is right at the front of the line hugging on him and joking with him about his beloved Wolfpack! Jimmy wearing his fishing shirts to church made such an impression on Berle that my Berle had to have a fishing shirt to wear to church too. Berle always shopped in thrift stores and, after many visits, found and bought many fishing shirts – one in almost every color in the world, I think! Berle admired Jimmy greatly, we both did. Much of Berle’s admiration for Jimmy came from all of Jimmy’s good Christ-like qualities…but I want you to know that, to Berle, Jimmy was also a trend-setter at church! If Jimmy could wear fishing shirts to church, then so could Berle! And he did! My love to each of you. I know you are sad and will miss him greatly. Jimmy is celebrating in Heaven with Jesus…and Berle!

Condolence from Ray Methvin on July 25th, 2020 7:11 pm

Billie Anne and Family,

I was saddened to learn of Jimmie’s passing. Jimmie lived a life of faith and purpose through Jesus Christ and he is spending eternity in His presence. I have fond memories of so long ago visiting the EM Church and the time spent on the river with Cousin Henry, Jimmie, Don and Aldon, and Cousin Evie.

I am grateful to Jimmie for taking the time to call my dad from time to time just to talk and keep him connected to Elizabeth City. It meant a lot.

May God wrap his loving arms around you during this time of grief. Jimmie has been reunited with all those loved ones that have gone before and is in the radiant presence Jesus Christ our Savior. Jimmie ran the race; he kept the Faith and now he is Home.

Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.
